Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have a FireLite Firewire portable disk. I can't transfer files larger than a meg to the disk from my desktop. But I can transfer from the Disk back. I'm on a Mac Book Pro, running 10.4.1.1. I've also tried it on a G-4 (same cable), and received the same result-Error Code -36.

That's my take too. But I can't try until Monday, and I wanted to see if there were any "known" bugs with the System 10.4 interface. I'll accept on Monday.

    Thanks

Not the cord. Data copies off the disk, but data won't copy back.

How to install Windows 7 from a .iso without burning onto a DVD

proxy?url=http%3a%2f%2f1.bp.blogspot.com%2f_uu-faylkkn4%2fs5sjwgyglri%2faaaaaaaaih0%2fwwn5u85pula%2fs400%2fwindows7_logo.jpg&container=focus&gadget=a&rewritemime=image%2f*&refresh=31536000 Windows 7 doesnot allow you to install off the same Hard Disk. But if you didn't want to burn the .iso image of Windows 7 that you downloaded to a new DVD - you can still install it off the .iso file by using the method below.
You will need a portable hard disk / pen drive though.
Incase, you have a portable hard disk or a pen drive - do the following : 1. Get WinRar (www.rarlabs.com) and install the software on your machine. WinRar is similar to winzip but supports many other formats including .iso. 2. Extract the .iso of Win7 to your pen drive / portable hard disk. Place the extracted files into the root of the drive - your other data can be put into folders. 3. Restart your laptop and hold F9 / F2 to enter into boot-menu which gives you a choice to load from. Here select your pen-drive / portable hard disk - usually a USB device.
Done - that's all it takes. You can now go ahead with the normal install process.

Need help freeing up disc space

Fragmentation of your hard disk will limit the amount of room reported on your HDD so a simple defrag could help. If you wish to free up disk space after doing a defrag and it still reports the same amount of room on your HDD you can use your add/remove and uninstalling any programs, games etc that are not used or used very little. If you are becoming limited on space due to windows updates etc then it maybe time to get a larger HDD and transfer all files and settings using transfer wizard to the new drive and then keep the old drive as a slave for extra storage. If you have done this and you still are very limited in HDD room then adding more space with another drive will increase it further but remember anything that has to do with windows or main programs such as office etc will all be stored to your main drive. I hope this helps.

Yes, it will work if the disk is operational and the laptop has an firewire port with all the drivers installed.
Just connect the disk and it will appear in Computer as an external disk.

Now... i figured that this problem would be related to a corruption of your program, in which case the easiest option is to do a re-install or repair if you have the installation disk.

But after some research, Microsoft says that this is a space issue. Try Deleting temporary internet files from the (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Internet Options) Hope this helps. Best Regards, -md

Oh, this is an excerpt from the microsoft website "This behavior can occur if the data that you are copying to the Clipboard is larger than the free disk space that is available on your computer or if data exceeds available random memory storage capacity.

RESOLUTION: To resolve this issue, do any one of the following: Delete undesirable files from your hard disk. WARNING: Be certain that the files that you are deleting are not program files. Delete only those files that you have created and no longer need.
-or-

Replace your computer's current hard disk with one that has a larger capacity. "

I need help finding drivers for my Intel 865gv P4

Which website are you getting your drivers from? Gigabyte has the drivers for that chipset. Are you using a DVD copy program to bring your files to the disk? Do you have enough Disk Space to copy them on to your Hard Disk in a folder you create? This is sometimes the best way to retrieve your files and put them on a DVD.

You have to specify the path to download the pictures.
Make a folder on your new disk then select that folder like default to download all your pics.

If you want only to pass all your old pic to a new disk, simply select the folder, >> then (right click) select COPY >> then Open the folder (already created) in your new hard drive and with a mouse cursor inside the folder (right click) and hit PASTE ---------All your files will start to copying

Verbatim 250GB External Hard Disk not recognized by PC

Almost always, when a USB drive doesn't assign a drive letter in MY Computer the issue is a Mapped network drive using the drive letter the USB drive is attempting to use.

With the drive connected, open DISK MANAGEMENT find the USB Drive, right click it and assign it an available drive letter.
