Three possibilities - 1. bad auger or auger bearings 2. dirty evaporator barrel (calcium or sediment buildup) or 3. water float sticking or water flow stopping for some reason and not keeping the evaporator filling with water. I would start looking in reverse order from 3 to 1.

SOURCE: Automatic Ice Maker making grinding noise and will not release ice

The mold heater on the bottom of the ice maker is shot, that is why the cubes will not release. The grinding is the sweep arm trying to push the frozen cubes out.

perhaps it's unhappy? I can't say i blame it, if I had to sit there all day in the freezing cold making ice I would moan too.
here's a list of possible problems
If it makes excessive noise:-
Problem and Likely Causes/ Probable Solutions

Fan blade vibrates Blade is bent Replace fan blade

Fan motor mount is broken Replace motor mount

Compressor vibrates Mounting loose Check mounting

Water pump vibrates Pump bearings worn Replace pump

Panels vibrate Mounting screws loose Tighten screws

and ice can groan as it expands, but that only applies to large icebergs

Chevy Aveo grinding noise from accelerator when A/C is on

It will be the ac compressor clutch that slipping when after it has been activated/engaged. This happens when the engine is winding up the compressor clutch is not engaging strong enough and start slipping. However as the engine rpm stabilize on the ac compressor has caught up (same rpm) no slipping occur and no noise. Was the clutch mechanism replaced with the compressor replacement? (however it need to be checked/repaired).

Noise from rear of unit like bearings grinding ie motor noise etc.

There should be no moving parts on the back. Remove the lower panel and lay down with a flashlight. The compressor may be located toward the rear, on the bottom. It looks like a cylinder with piping coming off it, and reaching to what looks like a mini car radiator. This is the coil.
Only moving parts are a fan for the coil and the compressor. See anything out of the ordinary?
Replacing a fan is easy. A failed compressor may be the kiss of death. If the noise is coming from the compressor/motor, call a local technician and ask how much to change it out. Warrantee?

good luck Spencer

My Duo-therm Brisk-Air by Dometic rv ac wont cool.(The fan runs )

Usually just listening closely will give you a rough idea where to look for problem. When you have the fan on and switch to cool, (with temperature turned down low obviously) do you hear any type of "moaning" sounds from AC unit, or see lights in RV dim slightly indicating that compressor is trying to engage? Is the breaker tripping when compressor tries to engage? Do you hear a "click" from AC unit when switched to cool? If none of that happens, then I'd start thinking thermostat, or compressor relay. Normally if it's a faulty capacitor, the compressor will try to engage but will make a "moaning sound" and usually trip the breaker due to excess current draw. Someone experience in electrical should be able to test relays etc, but whoever does work on it, should be aware that those capacitors, as well as hydro in general are very dangerous to work with. The ("zap",- Shock) that you can experience from a capacitor or hydro, can be fatal.

Turbine/moaning sound and vibration

Hello,
The grinding sound that you are hearing is your color wheel. They can make a noise from a buzz to a power saw type of noise. Usually the set will continue to play with the noise, but it is annoying. You will need to replace the color wheel now.

This is not as easy as the lamp replacement, as you have to pull the light engine to access the color wheel. It is not hard just more work and be careful of the color wheel lenses.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Condensor sounds like it moans for a couple of seconds instead

Hello aeruslady1,

Do you mean the compressor? I'm sure you do. The condenser is the hot refrigerant line that comes off of the compressor.
It just sounds like you have an old compressor. I have seen them make noises for years before they take a dump. If it continues to run loud even after it starts however, then you may need to clean the condenser coil or replace the condenser fan motor. Another thing that might make it run loud is some refrigerant lines may be rubbing against something. This can be remedied by bending the lines.

Hopefully this helps.

Sincerely,
