Hi,

Possibly two (2) reasons:
1. hardware fault. the hard disk may be defective and therefore could not run the operating system;
2. files are corrupted. your operating system might have files that are erased or corrupted and therefore again will not load the operating system.

The first requires a replacement while the second would require a fresh clean re-install of the OS.

Alternately, you can try running the recovery CDs that came with the PC when it was bought.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

T61 won't go past the Microsoft loading screen

Press F8 during boot, and load Safe Mode. A program may be preventing a proper startup.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig > Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running.

This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when you initiate.

My MSI MS-1683 Laptop With Windows 7 Home Premium won't boot up right. When I hit the power button, it loads to the screen that says "MSI" and then to a screen that has an underscore that...

That blinking underscore is the way in which the laptop's BIOS is telling you that it didn't find any Windows to boot to - it was completely corrupted.
The only thing left to do is to reinstall it.

Laptop wont load windows after freezing up and turning off

Have a Linux-savvy friend try booting a Live-Linux CD on your computer. If everything works,
then it isn't a hardware problem, just a virus "infection." In that case you could fix your computer by doing a fresh Windows install.
