Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Okay so I ran out of black ink in my MX300 Canon printer. It comes up as an alarm saying to replace the cartridge. Don't have the money now and don't need to print anything except I want to scan something and it won't let me do it with that alarm on there. FYI I've already turned the thing on and off and it won't get off. What to do?

You may have to reset it.
Turn it off and remove the power cable.
Hold the power button, and put the cable back in while doing so.
While holding the power button, press "cancel"
Now release and wait until it says "idle"
Press the "next" button, and press okay once it says shipping mode 3
Press OK to select "without cleaning"
Let the test page print
Open the cover and disconnect it(without switching the printer off)
Take out all the cartridges
Close it
Reconnect
turn it on
and put the cartridges back in

I just refilled my black ink cartridge in my mx300 canon printer, but it still says out of black ink, I think because the cartridge has been a little overfilled. when I click on supply levels it says...

You will have to purchase a new cartridge as your printer has a mechanism built-in which detects the date of the cartridge and locks it if it was once empty and then re-filled.
You can try and ask the re-fill vendor to reset the cartridge time but not every cartridge can be initialized.

Scanner won't work

How to use the scanner with a black ink cartridge install and no color ink cartridge install, plus the alarm light is on

I just replaced both ink cartridges and the alarm light is now on. The LCD screen reads check ink, U053, BLK COL. I can't get the printer to work or perform any functions.

On the canon MX300, holding the "reset" button down for about 10 seconds will extinguish the alarm light & should normalize all functions. The ink level will still indicate "low" , just ignore it.

MX300 alarm

You might try a hard reset of printer along with uninstalling and reinstalling the software for the printer.
If nada, you might give Canon a call and ask their techies for their feedback on situation.
