Question about HP Compaq 610 T5870 156 WH248UTABA (WH248UTABA) PC Desktop

I am trying install winodws7 on HP Compaq 610 having ATI Radeon Catalyst(Current OS winXP Pro SP2). But in the installation window it is showing the CD/DVD driver missing message. So, googled it and found 2 general scenarios.. 1:The Win7 disc is damaged...(This is not possible cause I installed windows7 on another laptop, It is fine) 2: I need to upgrade my bios using SP5650.exe from hp care. I find the second option may work, I simply downloaded it and ran it. It showed successful upgrade is done. But now, when I am resstarting the machine again It is showing error 104:unsupported wireless network device detected..I restored default BiOS setting from current BiOS menu, disable Wifi and Bluetooth adaptor. Now it is booting up fine, but I still can't install Windows7, same problem is showing "CD/DVD driver missing". Guys, help me out. and I'm in bit of hurry!

Hie there i have installed and reinstall Win 7 Ultimate on Multiple Compaq 610's without any problem.
i once encountered a prob like this one but was lazy so i removed my Hdd and formatted it elsewhere and Walaa my prob was gone. i didn't have to upgrade or downgrade my bios and am still using the same laptop 2day. Just make sure you DVD rom aint damaged.

it can be your monitor thats broke u can test it on a other system and see if the monitor works or not,if it works than u know its your graphic card thats broke and u should replace it

Installed new video card, system reboots
your current graphics card settings is not set to the correct level to match your system, you can download ATI Catalyst software from this link:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

after installing, you may have to restart your computer. when you restart, right click on the desktop and select (ATI catalyst), there you can adjust your graphic card features or you can use the recommended settings the software have adjusted for your graphic card by clicking on restore settings/defaults.

you should not encounter problems once you have installed the ATI software.

Free hardware/softwaren to install ATI Catalyst Drivers 9.1
Basically the software you are downloading is not xp compatible, I had the same problem with my toshiba portable pc, also with ati radeon 9.1.
It's a pain as I would rather run xp than vista any day.
If you install an older driver it may work.

I put my ati radeon 9200 and windows xp sp2 install the sis315
Try to to download and install the latest Radeon drivers
You will find the drivers here:
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.HTML

Just follow the steps on that site, select your OS etc

When gaming everything freezes. my problem report states,
Try removing the Catalyst program that came with the video card, Re-install just the drivers but not catalyst. To do this, you have to go through ADVANCED setup when installing the software.

I have used nothing but ATI and the bigest problem i had as well as many of my friends, is that the catalyst program has major issues with certain computers, especialy custom built ones.

I burned up one and almost a second before i finely figured out it was catalyst.

WHen i spoke to ATI about the issue they offered no solution and denied everything but the evidence showed. Once i removed catalyst, it never had a problem since.

Try it out, couldnt hurt.

Too many drivers installed, which ones to keep, which ones to uninstall?
1. uninstall or disable windows scripting

2. uninstall cataylst and install the oldest version possible from their site or from your box
3. reinstall the oldest or original via s3 pro savage driver

use a utility like advanced uninstaller pro if its hard to unsintall ur drivers

Sapphire HD 2600 XT Driver Problems
To get your drivers follow these simply steps below:

First go to this website "CLICK HERE" - once you've done that fill in all the details of your "Graphics Card" then download them.

After you've completed the installation restart your computer just to make everything work correctly.


Note: after you've installed the driver your resolution when you've restarted your computer will be diffrenrent and may need changing.
