Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

Virus I was working on a reliable website ( when my computer froze. It would not bring up the task manager (ctrl+alt+delete), so I restarted it. Then it would not re-start. It said my BIOS was not installed and then the screen said PRB installed 2...done (or something similar). If I wait long enough, the screen advances to Windows "starting up screen" but it never loads. DELL support said (after I tried to ensure it booted from the hard drive), that I'd have to restore factory settings and lose all my data. Is this true? Is there another option to save my files?

It's not a virus. It's a driver conflict in Vista usually video. Did you recently install the Vista SP1 update?

Why won't my HP laptop let me type anything?

Whichf HP laptop? Is your PC hung up? What version of Windows?
Usually you can do a CTRL-ALT-DELETE and this brings up the Task manager. If your keyboard has a proper driver loaded, it will show you the Task manager screen. Select - start task manager. then look at the list of Processes. There should be atleast 9 processes running. Sometimes a virus in your system can lock your keyboard just to irritate you.

Hi! I have think point virus since 2 days ago and I did all what you have said(Malwarebytes? Anti-Malware, ad.aware) but after that my internet it´s not working, I did in safe mode with networking,...

After the ThinkPoint screen loads push the command CTRL+ALT+DELETE quickly. This will bring you to task manager. Open the tab called Processes, find the process hotfix.exe and end it. The rogue program should be gone now. Next, you need to bring your Desktop and taskbar back. While in task manager go to File and select "Run new task". Type explorer.exe in the open box. This will bring back Windows explorer. More detailed instructions are given below. At this point you should be able to download anti-malware software which will remove ThinkPoint.

the icons and the bar(task bar) at the bottom of the screen are enabled by the explorer.exe file

it starts automatically but in your case it is not starting

to start it when your computer starts and comes at the desktop, press alt+ctrl+delete button at the same time to bring up the task manager

when you do this a task manager shows up in a window

in task manager window click on file, it will be located on the top left portion on task manager

now click on "new task(run)"

this opens another window, in that window type
without the quotes "" and press enter
this will bring you icons and task bar at the bottom of the screen

Cant reboot - it started when the internet froze and i did ctrl atl delete and ended prosces for expoler, then computer froze so i used ctrl alt delete to restart computer, when computer restarted it...

Good day sir/maam, the reson why it froze is caused by a bad memory module, you may need to replace it. Open up your computer and locate the memory modules, remove all memory modules and bring it to a computer vendor for testing. or if you have the cash, better buy a new one. make sure that what you install on your PC be it tested or new is good.

Stays at 100% Cpu usage, I have E machine W3307

there's a good chance you have a trijan, assuming you have an antivirs programme, run it in safe mode (F8 on startup and enter using safe mode), use the administrator account to log into windows, and then go to my computer icon, right click>properties>system restore tab, then turn off system restore.(viruses and trojans have a back up in system restore)

Run anti virus programme, restart pc then turn system restore back on

If you don't have an anti virus/spyware you can get a free download with free updates here, (choose the avg free download)
