You can buy a Haynes Manual (cheap) thats good to have and it tells you where every wire in the vehicle goes along with many other things on repairing it.

SOURCE: what are the symtoms of a bad catalytic converter

a bad converter will give off a "rotten egg" smell, restrict the exhaust & cause the engine to operate at a hotter temperature, the heater will be excessively hot, the radiator or heater core could begin to leak, hoses will have extra pressure on them & there will be blow-by fumes forcing their way back from the exhaust maniforld into the engine if the converter becomes too plugged. This causes your motor oil to become dirty much more quickly too, causing extra wear on the engine You can generally see a very rusted exhaust behind the converter once this has happened. You'll get a miss, followed by sputtering & eventually either a frozen motor, blown headgasket, cracked head, or other problems caused by heat. good luck

That would depend on whether any have been removed from it before you start counting. But there should be at least one. Have a look at the exhaust system. Cats are usually fitted with a splash guard. But there is one thing, Kia don't make motorcycles.

If you scan the error codes what does it say? You can get this done at any autoparts store (chain) for free. However it sounds to me like there is some air restriction in the intake that is causing the loss of power and the exhuast is running rich. This causes the catalytic converter to overheat. You need to be mindful that any leaks of fluid near the catalytic converter can cause a fire and the loss of the entire vehicle when they get this hot.

I'm not certain on the newer vehicles like this but this was a common problem on the older cars when the catalytic converter got clogged. Sometimes due to age and wear the converters would build up n just get stuck. If so, you may need to have them replaced at a muffler shop.

Duplicate see other post. This is an airflow issue at the intake. The vehicle could catch fire. Dont drive it.

2003 kia sorento keeps slowing down to a stop but doesnt cut off.I have to wait before I press on gas again.

I can't see the T/Belt giveing that problem however if the T/Belt is due it should be done ASAP because if the belt breaks it can cause pistons to hit valves (Very expensive to fix) but could be the catalytic converter or a number of other things. My thought would be to undo the o2 sensor in the exhaust & run car this will allow exhaust to escape without going through the catalyst. If car stops slowing to a stop you know that the catalyst is blocked. Or remove the catalitic converter & look through it it should look like honey comb you can see through. P.S your car posibly won't go without the o2 sensor in.
