Question about Epson Stylus RX580 InkJet Photo Printer

2 Answers

My Epson RX580 had been working just fine. all the cartridges were above 1/4 full, with the one exception, a new blue that i had put in and it was almost full. I do not turn off the printer, but was gone for the weekend, and my husband shut everything down. when I restarted the RX580, an error notice came us saying "can not recognize ink cartridges". I unplugged the printer, removed all the cartridges and restarted, sadly the same message came up. I have a new value pack Epson 78 cartridges, but do not wish to open it if the printer refused to recognize the ink, I would be out $60. what is your suggestion?

I did the step by step solution as suggested by owoblow11, but. alas! it did not help. I would like a second suggestion, and if that fails, I will junk the machine and get another one.

    Thanks for trying

Hi,

Try the below steps 1 and 2.

1) Close the latch that locks the cartridges in place I push down on all the cartridges; the error clears and the printer works. If didn't fix try step 2

2) Remove the cartridge and rub a soft tissue over the gold part of the cartridge. Then reinsert them back.

Riztech

Hello,

First, power off the printer and power on the printer back, while the printer is loading, pull out the plug from the AC, wait for some minutes and plug back, if the problem persist, try this,

  1. First, re-install your old cartridges (with the printer power is on) , wait for the printer's cycle to finish
  2. Second, power OFF your printer by pressing its on/off button.
  3. Then, unplug your printer from its power source.
  4. Reboot your computer.
  5. Clean the electrical contact points on the NEW cartridges so they are bright and shiny. (You can use Windex or some water)
  6. Plug your printer back in to its power source.
  7. Press your printer's on/off button to turn on the printer.
  8. When your printer is finished with its warmup routine, press the "install cartridge" button on your printer.
  9. Remove the old empty cartridge(s) once again.
  10. Reinstall the new cartridge(s).
Take care.

Hi there, I would simply pull the ink cartridges out completely and then put them back in. It should act as if you are putting in new cartridges and go through the install process again. I hope this works for you!

My rx580 all in one is giving me an unable to read ink cartridges error message. Can I fix that?

If the cartridges are New Genuine Epson Cartridges, and the correct size, then I do not know why you are getting error.
I know for a fact that Epson, does not like generic.

I have Windows XP with Rx580 Epson Printer and need black print

Get one of the resetters for the ink cartridges (might not be easily available in the US - I know they are available in Thailand. Reset (electronic resetting of the internal chip) the color cartridges to "full" and then set the printer to "BLACK ONLY". Don't print in color and you can print black. Alternately get a set of refillable cartridges (I got a set again in Thailand for about $20 for the set of 6) fill the black and ignore the others. it will ONLY print BLACK

Ink Cartridge

Some of Epson's cartridges went bad that way. It may be a bad cartridge. Get a new one, pull that one out and see what happens. If it works, call Epson for a refund. They had a class action suit for that type of thing, they lost and paid off. I would think they will help you right away.
