My Uniden walkie talkie keeps saying L very time I push a button

You've set the keylock feature on your walkie talkie. From the Uniden manual...

KEYLOCK

ON/OFF Press and hold the call/lock key until the "L" appears. After 1 second, the LCD will return to the channel display. To exit Keylock on mode, press and hold call/lock again. Note: While in keylock on mode, it will still receive transmissions.

Motorola XTR 446 talkie walkie is not receiving

Try programming the radios without an eliminator code and see if they work together then. If so, there is something wrong with the eliminator code portion of the radio. Also, check your batteries, switch batteries between the units and see if the problem moves to the other unit. It takes more energy to transmit than receive, so a bad or very weak battery could exhibit a similar problem. The radio icon will illuminate whenever a radio is transmitting or receiving. When the radio is in standby mode, the icon should not be shown. Your radio with the icon on all the time may be stuck in transmit. Check your PTT button to see if it is slightly stuck or depressed. Cobra pr 3850wx bought new NiMh 800mAh 1.2v rechargable batteries now the base charger lights won't come on when i put the radios in it

  • A Cobra 3850wx Radio requires 4x600mAh NiMH 1.2V AAA Part # GA-3ANH rechargeable batteries.
  • Not just any AAA rechargeable battery will charge in the unit.
  • All will work in the radio but not all will charge inside the radio. It has to be a specific battery.
  • This is an example of what you need. GA-3ANH batteries which will charge inside your radio. http://www.tomsawyer2wayradios.com/catalog/item/3823249/5076887.htm

Walkie talkies were working yesterday (gift from Christmas) and today the red power light is on indicating both working, but we can only get sound out of one of them.....any suggestions? brand new...

Hello,
These walkie talkies are pretty simple to use. Turn on and turn the volume up and talk. So if you turn it on it is possible for there to be enough juice in the batteries to make the LED function but not enough to modulate (or talk) to the other walkie talkie. Have you tried to replacing the batteries with new ones yet? Sometimes recharge ables go bad and they are no good when you install them into your item. So make sure the batteries you installed are "new." And replace in both units. Should this not work, given the nature of the item and the age of those who will more than likely be using them, they break and soldier joints come loose. The back has a screw that is a specialty tool to remove. Outside of removing that and taking a look there is not much that can be done. Make sure to put at least 5 feet between the two radios to allow for good reception.

It came with battery i assume are rechargable but when plugged in there is no sign that they are charging and when you take them off the charger they die in a few seconds

It looks like some of these came with alkaline battery backs, some with rechargeables, and some with no batteries. The rechargeable packs will be marked "NiMH" with the part number FA-BD on them. If yours are the rechargeable types they probably need to be replaced. You can also power the units with 4 AAA alkaline batteries.

Walkie talkie symbol stuck on cannot remove it

The symbol you are describing indicates you have the radio on HI power. It will not go away unless you reprogram the radio to LOW power, or change to a low power channel.
