Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My Fisher and Paykel mw511 intermittently will not fill with cold water. The bowl spins slowly as if it should be filling with water and I can hear a pump but no water comes out. I swapped the hoses and put the washer on Hot and the bowl filled with cold water. I swapped the hoses back to H-H, C-C and tried again to no avail. I turned the machine off overnight at the wall. I tried a wash this morning and it seemed to work fine - the first load completed successfully. Another load saw the filling problem start again

Cold water valve problems with F&P machines are common. Replacing the cold valve is the most likely remedy.
It's not good policy to use the hot valve on the cold inlet because (we are told) they are different in their tolerance of high water pressure. (don't shoot the messenger!!)
As you've changed the valves, you've already seen that the problem can be removed...
Good luck.....Nomess

Testimonial: "Thanks - I also rang F & P. Their tech support suggested the same thing. We bought the machine second hand for $150. $170 to fix. It's going back."

MW511. 2 & 7 lights flash, beeping. No agitate or spin?

Fault code 66 is pressure sensor is faulty
66. (01000001) Pressure Transducer Error [Ptx Frequency > 90 kHz]
Note: this supersedes Fault code 65 from V41 Motor controller code onwards.
The Motor Control module has received signals from the water level sensor (Ptx)
above normal frequency values.
Primary Source: Motor Control module
Action: Replace Motor Control module

Washer will not fill with water. Machine goes on but groans and no water fills. I have unplugged it for 60 seconds but still no water

Water inlet valve problems are not uncommon with these machines. You probably have to replace the cold valve (Most common) The groaning is probably the bowl turning slowly to allow the water to dampen the clothes evenly as it fills....DO NOT try to exchange the hot and cold valves, as they are different!!!! Not a big job for a tech....Good luck....Nomess

I have a fisher & paykel IW810 washing machine that will not fill the bowl with water. While filling, it is also pumping the water out, in the autowater level sensing mode. I have gone into the command...

hi, reading your posting it tells me that the machine will fill on traditional wash but on auto fill mode it pumps the water out at the same time it is filling. i"m pretty sure it is your diverter . on auto fill mode it fills a little bit then the pump comes on and recirculates your water by pumping the water from the bottom of the bowl to the top of the bowl over the clothes. on auto fill mode it also activates the diverter to pump the water back to the bowl. on your machine the diverter is stuck in the drain out position so when it trys to recirculate the water it drains out the water instead . the problem could be a faulty diverter, control module or a broken wire.hope this helps, please reply if you need more help. good luck.

It wont complete cycle and empty the water just hums for a while and then turns its self off

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

mw511 fills with water but cylinder isnt spinnig and when it stops filling nothing happens. However sometimes it will go complete cycle ans a noise can be heard on spin cycle even though it is not spinning. As thoiugh the motor is not engaging with the cylinder

F & P GW712 - bowl spins, but won't fill.

Read your user manual - but I would suggest that you may not have setup the balance properly. Check the level of the machine and adjust to be as square as possible by adjusting the feet at the bottom. If the water isnt coming in on both hot and cold sounds like a common problem - perhaps the water level sensor is playing up or something else has been knocked during transportation of the machine when you moved house. Check your user manual for troubleshooting. Sounds dumb, but check that 'delay start' isnt selected also. check both hoses filters are not blocked.
