Question about Alpine CDA-9805 CD Player

1 Answer

My cda-9805 unit quit working after changing out my car battery. When I remove the face and hit the reset button, I hear it cycle through the CD mechanism but when I attach the face, the unit will not turn on. It looks as if there is no power but I know there is by hearing the CD mech after the reset.

Did ;you check all your fuses? it sounds like you may not have power going to the red (ignition) wire.

it sounds like you have the blue wire (antenna remote turn on) instead of the blue/white wire (amplifier remote turn on) turning on an external amplifier in your rover. the antenna remote wire turns off when you leave tuner mode.

Hi there,
If this model has a detachable faceplate,
Remove the faceplate and clean down the contacts with metho and a cotton bud.
Over time usually corrosion and dirt etc builds up on these terminals making them loose cotact when you touch the faceplate.
This is the most commonly known problem alpine units.
Other common problems is the power supply failing /amplifier.
Hope this helps you out
Cheers

Alpine CDA-7865R won't play CD and won't eject it either.

On the face, where the buttons are that control the tilt of the face there is a small reset button (In between). I pressed this whilst the unit was off, and when I switched it on again, the CD started playing but I couldn't tilt the face and eject the CD, so I hit the reset button again and it all worked!

Nothin will work

If you've got 12v constant on the yellow, 12v switched on the red, and chassis ground to black, your fuses are good the radio is powered properly.

When you plug the harness into the back of the radio you should hear the CD transport cycle. That's telling you the radio's getting power. Hit the reset button (pin-hole switch on front panel) and hold the small square open/close button for 2-3 seconds.

If still nothing, the radio needs service. I'd send that model to Alpine in CA for repair.
