Apparently some defective components were used in the construction of the logic board (see photo). On my C6180 there were 3 failed capacitors (the green cylinders - the puffed top indicates failure) and a 4th from the same manufacturer (TEAPO - many unfavorable web references to this manufacturer). I purchased 3x 330uF 16V and 1x 680uF 10v rated to 105 degrees Celsius (total about 60cents). On the logic board, the capacitors I replaced are labeled C613, C614, C660 and C662. If you are not comfortable replacing the parts yourself (or don't have a soldering tool), you will have to find someone who will. The time to repair should be less than 30 min - I did it in 25 min with only a solder pen. This fix stopped my printer from power cycling and also fixed the ink system failures the Printer was having. HP PRINTER C6180 IS KEEPS - 6606c32.jpg
I ordered parts from mouser.com, but DigiKey.com may have better prices. I ordered 3 of these and 1 of these

This info has been so helpful along with this group of pictures:http://picasaweb.google.com/109215435720... The pictures show how to get to the logic board. Thank you for helping me fix my printer instead of turning it into a boat anchor!

A similar fix may apply to other printers produced by HP around this time. acca299.jpg

My HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One keeps restarting and won't power on. It cannot even be used as a photo copier nor does it allow for the computer to do anything to it as it has not been powered...

- Please check if it is connected to a wall outlet or to a surge protector...If it is connected to a surge protector then connect it to a wall outlet.....
- If it is working then fine....If not then remove all the cartridges...disconnect the power chord from back of the printer and then from wall outlet......wait for 40 seconds then connect the power chord to wall outlet first and then to the back of the printer....
- If working fine then ok or else check adapter is warming or not......and check with different wall outlet and with different power supply....
- Now do the following re-sets :
A) Disconnect the power chord from the back of the printer
B) Press and hold # and 6
C) While holding these keys connect the power chord to the back of the printer and when you see that printer is warming up then release the keys.....
Or else replace the printer

My HP PhotoSmart C6150 printer keeps restarting.

I had this same problem with my C6180. Printer was well out of warranty so I removed the three black torx screws holding cover over mother board. I then removed screws holding mother board to chassis and found a 330 uf 10V capicator that was swelling. I replaced the capicator at a cost of $1.70 and everything works fine now. Better than buying a new printer.

HI

i have a sure shot resolution for this which worked John Oneill who had the similar problem ,

try this out
The best way to deal with this issue is making sure that the printer isn't plugged to a surge protector
and performing a partial reset
youcan achieve this by unplugging the power cable and pressing # and 3 andthen replugging the cable and hold the # and 3 buttons until you seethe lcd lit up
also try the # and 6 and then # and 9 to reset it to factory defaults if the previous doesnt work

Printer keeps jamming

You can order replacement parts and install them yourself or have a repair printer tech do it. But to save money you can do it.

http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/HP,Photosmart,C6180-All-in-One,Q8181A,Printer,Parts.aspx

I don't have your part number that's on the unit use the link above and put in the right part number. I used Q8181A

What you need is called: HP Printer Belt or Roller: ASSY-PICK ROLLER

Note with heavy printer usage the rollers will wear out quick. If they do the paper will get stuck and jam. In the meantime you can use W40D on the rollers wipe and dry with a cloth that does not have lint. There is a product I use but not so to customer that fixes these problems but it's not the right solution it's better to replace the parts that are bad.
