Kenmore Non-Convection Dial Toaster Oven. The select dial for Bake and Broil turn on between the detent positions for those functions. The on light does not come on at the detent positions. Can the dial be reset to the detent positions?

The initial solution wasn't even for my appliance. I have a standard Kenmore Toaster Oven with dials for various cooking jobs. One dial can be set for Toast or Bake or Broil or Warm. They all have detent positions. When you turn the dial to one of those positions and set a time and temperature, the red power light comes on. In my case, I have to set the dial between the detent positions to get the power light to come one. How do I fix this problem and get the detent positions to work? Phil

The #2 expert at least had the problem and appliance correct, but the selection knob doesn't have a stop, so it couldn't have been forced. You can turn the knob continuously among the four selections, but the on light only glows between selections, not at the detents.

I think that the dial may have spun inside on its mount. Might be able to take it apart and spin it back and tighten the fastener to repair this problem. If it's possible.

What is the model # of this Kenmore Non-Convection Dial Toaster Oven for more information?

It is 23848449. I tried to pull the knob off, but it won't come out. I also tried to get inside the control compartment from both the front and back, also with no luck. How do I take the thing apart? Phil

I found a site that has some parts for the kenmore small appliance, but it only lists a knob for that area of the toaster oven.

It occurs to me.. is it possible that the knob has become melted inside and made it seem like it was pointing to the wrong detent?

According to the parts information, the knob should pry or pull off.

The dial knob have been forced inrecular that is why you have the problem. Due the way a dial knob is constructed the only way to fix it is to force the knob reverce way exactly as the one that cause the problem which is rather impossible.
So you have two option either to replace dial knob with a new so you will have the lights on or continue work the oven like this without the lights but the oven still working ok.

I would accept that, but this dial knob does not have a stop; it can be turned continuously among the four selections, so there is no way it could have been forced out of the detents.

Perform a hard reset. Pull the plug out of the wall power supply, and wait a moment. Plug the microwave back into the wall power supply to reset any anomalies with the microwave's memory. You will need to reset the time of day if you perform a hard reset.
Reset the time of day. Press the "Clock" button, and turn the dial to set the hours. Press the dial to enter. Follow the same procedure for the minutes and a.m. or p.m. Press the "Start" button to start the clock.
Hope this helps else counsult a repair guy.

This isn't for a microwave; it's for a toaster oven with mannual dial controls. It's a mechanical problem, not an electronic one. Try again.

The broil element and bake element both come on set for Bake.

You are correct in your diagnosis. The selection switch has 2 sets of contacts that should only make one when on bake. The contacts internal to that fuse are most likely fused together, the other thing that could be going on is a short circuit in the wires to the selection switch causing the same problem. Typically a repair unless under warranty would be costly unless you are up for the challenge of replacing the switch and checking the wiring yourself.

Contact Euro-Pro by phone at (800) 798-7398. b The replacement knobs will cost you about $10 (3 knobs and shipping and handling) Call-don't email as I got the wrong information when I emailed. You are better off speaking with a person, even if they are in India.

Delonghi Toaster Oven Color Select Dial does not turn off

This sounds like a defective timer switch that is not turning the oven off at the end of the time selected. You will need to replace the timer switch. The switches are available but unless you're able to do this kind of work you will need to take it to a repair shop. If you want to DIY you can find the switch at www.thegourmetdepotco.com or www.applianceparts.com. If you don't have a part # you will need the make and model # to get the correct switch.
