Every time I start up my eee pc I have an error message : "Asus eee pc acpi service encountered a problem and needs to close..." If I close the pop up comes back immediately. I have already try...

ACPI is the reporting system for the hardware. It tells the operating system about battery charges fan speeds and so on depending on the model.

I would look at the Asus support page for a bios update as well as updates for the ACPI system or software. You can download and just run the updates to install and that should fix this if they have a driver problem and a fix.

http://usa.asus.com/Eee/

Select your model to go to the model page then under downloads you should find the bios updates and the bios utility. Download and run and it will update and hopefully kill the error. I saw 4 updates and two looked like they might address this. Just get the latest one. It will tell you if it needs to be done. Don't run anything else when you do this. Start the update and don;t touch. It should take just a few minutes and may want to reboot after.

I keep getting this message: "Asus Eee PC ACPI

Quoting from a forum last year discussing how to get rid of your message... "ACPI stands for Advance Configuration and Power Interface, which basically means it lets the OS communicate with the BIOS. This covers things from properly reading battery capacity to hardware features like enabling the Fn keys on your keyboard to work. So it's needed if you want everything to work." The problem can be registry errors, incorrect ACPI drivers or both. You can try the suggested solution of reloading the Asus drivers but you may still get the message due to registry errors. Registry cleaning can by done by Advanced SystemCare Free which is a free utility that can be downloaded from CNet...

If all this fails and you can back-up any personal data that you might have on the netbook, a simple solution is on startup to tap F9 to reload the system with its factory-installed image that is on a hidden partition on the netbook's hard disk. I keep getting a pop up window every 10 sec or so saying ''eee pc tray utility has encountered a problem and needs to close'' ...i have clicked Dont send, and also send error report, and still it keeps...

Click Start, Run... or press Windows Button and Alphabet R button together. On the run dialog that comes up type the word msconfig This brings up a dialog where you can use the services tab and startup tabs to remove the tick marks from the items like eee pc tray utility to prevent it from starting up again in the next restart. You can also press the end task in the services tab if you want to stop it right now. Removing unwanted items from services and startup tab will give you a faster bootup. I HAVE AN EEE PC AND KEEP GETTING AN ERROR MESSAGE SAYING 'EEE PC TRAY UTILITY HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM. ERROR TYPE:BEX P1:AsTRAY.EXE P2:5.1.13018 P3:4886b209 P4:AsTRAY.EXE P5:5.1.1.3018

first make a image of the partition using norton ghost. (you cand find it on a hirens boot cd), next uninstall the tray utility. if it is still the same problem, try reinstalling the operating system. if not reinstall the utility and see if it works. if it doesn't works and you don't want to reinstall the operating system, remake your partion from the image created initially using norton ghost

I have an eee pc 900 series, and the camera is not being detected

To turn the camera on IS in the BIOS. It's not in a logical "camera" spot but it's in there. My camera on my Eee PC 1000H got turned off somehow (not by me or by a BIO upgrade) so I found it and fixed it. Look for it in the BIOS menu's. It's there.

I get a popup mesage telling me an error has acured.

Click on "start" then "Run...". In the "Open:" box type in:
msconfig
and click on "OK".
Click on the "Startup" tab and look for a line containing IDTSysTrayApp and/or sttray.exe.
Uncheck the box on that line, and click on "OK", then "Exit Without Restart".
The audio should still work - this just disables the IDT system tray icon.

Kodak easyshare software

I would suggest booting Windows into 'safe' mode before re-installing after completely removing and making use of Kodak's 'Clear Utility' CLICK HERE to download it; and then it should be able to install the portions of the software which aren't installing.
