Question about InFocus ScreenPlay 4805 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Screenplay 4805 not anything. I plugged it in, heard a pop, and then tried to turn it on, and nothing happened. No fan, no light. Could this be a fuse?

Yes, it could be the glass fuse on the power supply/ballast. If you remove the top cover you should see it clearly if it has blown.

I have an infocus 4805 screenplay projector and i was using it when there was a pop and then i lost all color in my projector now its only black and white the bulb filter is clean what do i do.

Your projector is DLP technology. It employs a "color wheel" to provide colors other than blank/white. That "pop" you heard unfortunately may have been a malfunction of the color wheel mechanism, probably the motor. (It runs at very high RPM)

Sounds like you may have to find a shop to service your projector.

Was watching a movie, heard a loud pop & then the fan was very loud & noisy

The lamp blew out and the broken glass is in one of the fans. You MUST get the glass out of the fans, intakes and bulb compartment before replacing the $275 - $500 bulb...

InFocus 4805 lost red

Yes Geoff, What has happened is one of the two red glass filters on the color wheel has separated and flew off which was the snap you heard. So white light is in half of all parts of the spectrum that require any red.

There should also be a vibration now that can be felt on the projector and possibly heard as well.
I suggest not running it again until this is repaired as more damage could result. If you have the skills and the part that flew off isn't destroyed it can be carefully glued back in place and problem solved. I have seen quite a few of these glass filter segments survive this.

Good Luck!

Projector stays on for 3 minutes then turns itself off

Hi Chipped Rice

The loud buzzing noise you heard was the colourwheel that gave in.

Now what happens is , the machine will turn on and go through the whole cycle and as soon as the colourwheel is supposed to start doing it's stuff the Projector will switch off because there is no response from the coulourwheel itself.

You will have to replace the colourwheel unfortunately as it cannot be fixed.

Thanks for using Fixya !

I think the problem is the ECA controller (main board). It is through this that the fans are powered. Try to measure the voltage supplied to it (CN377 on the board for the larg lamp fan CN376 for the smaller fan), it shouldn't be less then 5v this can only be achieved if you activate the lamp door switch by jamming a piece of card board in it and powering the projector up. Take caution, and don't touch anything else, high power voltages are also present. You could also try to supply the fan with an external supply 6 to 12 volts after you unplug it from the main board, to make sure the fan is OK making sure of the correct polarity, red wire is +, black is -.

Projector Problems

Sounds like the fuse popped. t5a=5 amps 250v=250 volts So you will need a fast-acting 5 amp 250 volt fuse
