There are codes on the back of the opener unit. One set is for going up and one set is for going down. Both sets on the back of the unit must match your opener or the frequencies will not open and close your door.

Re-engage carriage on genie garage door opener

good morning Anonymous.

Usually there is a hand-switch where the arm from the door connects to the Drivescrew. It will often have a cord hanging down that you can pull to disengage the arm from the screw. It's there so that you can manually move your door if the power goes out. If the drivescrew spins and nothing moves, then you probably need to get on a stepstool and click the lever back up to re-engage with the screw. Good Luck!

Why won't my Genie garage door opener close without going back up.

So it seems the Main garage door unit on the ceiling is ok. The problem is with hand held unit. Usually the circuitry is ok. Try changing the battery. It has helped me. Also make sure the sensor on ceiling unit is not blocked ad is free of cobwebs.

This is the close limit sensor so yes it should work. They have them for $2.40 right now from an Amazon vendor - http://www.amazon.com/Genie-Excelerator-Close-Switch-33950S/dp/B00283OBXY/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A1CTO3U79X1RZ3

You can also buy replacement sensors as a 10 pack in case you end up needing more from here -

I want to program my Genie ecellerator isd 1000 so that I can use my Homelink system in my car and my wife can continue to use her Genie remote that came with the opener. How can i do this? Thanks

Inside the car press the 2 outer buttons on the homelink until the led light by it goes out or flashes rapidly. This erases all old/factory codes. Hold the remote 1" from the button you want to program and press the button on the remote and the homelink button until it flashes rapidly. Then press the learn button on the motor head and then press the button on the homelink you pressed before 4 times and this should code in. Thanks BB

IS THE SENSITIVITY SET TOO LIGHT?

Genie garage door won't shut. the down limit switch wire (brown) got caught and I had to reconnect...stripped and twisted wires (just the brown down switch wire) together ... door still won't shut , it...

You don't say which model you have, however, MOST Genie systems use the switches as temporary contacts. By twisting them together, the computer board is reading it as a short. You need to replace the switch and route the wires properly.

Programming the garage door opener

Homelink Garage Door Opener Programming Procedure:

The procedure described below was successfully applied to a 2005 Jaguar S-Type.

To begin with, several attempts were made using the programming instructions contained in my Jaguars owners manual. Though the procedure described in the owners manual was straight-forward and understandable, I was unsuccessful in getting the vehicles remote to make my garage door opener function. The particular garage door openers I have are both made by Genie. Both openers utilize the Rolling Code feature.

To begin with, be sure to clear previous codes on your Jaguars garage door opener by first turning (rotating) the ignition key to the I position (first notch). Next, simultaneously hold button 1 (left most button) and button 3 (right most button) down until the middle buttons red light changes from continuous on to a rapid flash. This process takes approximately 20-25 seconds. What follows is a two part process. In the first part, get your Genie portable remote and hold it near (approximately 3 inches away from) your Jaguars garage door opener console buttons. Choose which button on your Jaguars remote you wish to dedicate to your Genie door opener and simultaneously press and hold your Genie opener button and your Jaguars opener button. The red light on your Jaguars center button (button #2) will light up and within 1-2 seconds will begin to flash rapidly. You have just completed part 1 of the two part process.

Part two: Now it is time to utilize the Learn function on your Genie garage door opener. Press the Learn button on your Genie garage door opener. The red LED adjacent to the Learn button will begin to flash. You now have 30 seconds in which to program your Jaguars opener button. Using the same button you just used in the part 1 procedure, press and hold the same button for several seconds. As before, your Jaguars red light in the middle button will light up and within 1-2 seconds, it will flash rapidly. Release the button you are programming. Now, here is the key piece of information! Once again, press and hold that same button. Once again, the center buttons red light will flash rapidly. Release your newly programmed button. This procedure proved successful in my application. Here is what has just happened. The first time you pressed your Jaguars remote button tells the Genie opener that it exists and that it is a viable candidate for making your life easier (opening the damn door). The second time you press your Jaguars remote button confirms to the Genies rolling code that your Jaguars signal is legitimate and is to be trusted from then on.
