This set is from yr. 2000. I know there are some boards ( 2 or 3 ) that plug in like on a computer. Could this be one of the problems. If so, how do I find out which one it is.

The Panasonic model # for this set is Pt-51SX60.

Is there any instructions on how to polish the mirrors or replacement of the coolant?

  • ElPason Apr 27, 2008

Slinteriors, thanks for all the information. The link was very informative. I'm a bit of a klutz so I might just have the process done by someone who knows what they are doing. At least I know what the problem is and can relate it to the service man.

I accidentally broke the rear projection mirror, can this be replaced?
Could I have a local glass company cut the same size and thickness
material (mirror) or is this some special "mirror" material? Does
anyone have any idea or suggestion?

Try polishing the mirror and CRT lenses. If that doesnt help you may need to change the coolant in the CRTs. If your set is a DLP you may need a new lamp.

your problem is with the mirror being dull or the coolant needing replacement

the mirroe has to be polished by removing the frony screen or just reaching up from the rear panel. The rear panel takes alittle strecthing but is do able. Heres a link that will give info on coolant changing.
