Question about Toymax Magnavox 37MF331D 37 in. LCD TV

3 Answers

My Magnovox 37mf331d/37 will not power on. The power light just keeps flashing green. I have unplugged the TV several times and it still wont power on, just a flashing green light. How can I cut the TV back on? I know that the TV needs to be repaired, so how much does it usually cost to fix this issue?

I had a similar problem, and I searched online for quite a bit--the problem was a bad capacitor on the power supply board. You can tell which one is bad because there's black residue on top of it. I bought replacement capacitors from E-Bay, and replaced the one capacitor that had perished, by soldering the new one in its place.
If you are the type of individual that enjoys upgrading your computer, or putting stuff from Ikea together, I'd say go for it.
There are a lot of screws, and I taped each set of screws to it's corresponding part as I went along, but other than that, I am so happy I didn't have to pay more than the cost of the capacitors (a pack of 10 pcs for $7). I had the soldering iron and solder for years (I bought it from Radio shack at least 10 years ago). Of course, the time involved, but personally it was worth it!
Good luck!

Why toymax magnavox 37mf331d 37 in tv worked good i turned it off came back to turn it on and it wont come on the green light that is usually there its not on ?

Fault with the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be on a separate board, or on the part of its main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

Insignia? 37 720p Flat Panel LCD HDTV will not

Power-cycle the unit (turn it off and unplug for several minutes). If you're unable to power the unit on successfully, the TV probably requires repairs. In home service can be obtained by calling 1-888-237-8289 in the U.S. or 1-866-237-8289 in Canada.

I lost the picture on my 37" LCD model 37MF331D/3. The audio is fine.

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

I had the same problem with a Magnavox LCD TV. It would not turn on and the light on the external PSU flashed. I found a replacement 12V 5A power supply on EBAY. It brought the set back to life.

Magnovox pwr button flashes wont turn on

Normally, when this happens, the TV goes into " Protection Mode " because of a failing circuit board. Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. The most common thing to go out on flat panel TVs is thecircuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom.

You have a few choices:
1. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.

2. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you red light flashing codes, circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.
3. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Philips Magnavox 37" LCD Flat Screen 37MF331D Have replaced power board, main board, hit power a faint light on whole screen for about 2 seconds the nothing.

Disconnect the LVDS Cable that runs from the small signal board to the display panel and apply power,if the screen comes on,the Small signal board (aka Scaler Bd ) is the faulty board. other than that, all that's really left that has gone bad for me is the logic board.

Dear smmmobil,
The problem lies with the SMPS (switch mode power supply ) of your TV. The smps board needs to be replaced.
