Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hello, I have a 2002 Panasonic big screen television Model # PT-61HX41E. I replaced the screen last year and recently the picture is "blurry". The picture is "doubled" a little, with the top and bottom of the screen "bowing" a little. Is there some way to adjust the screen or reset the picture. (Plus, I am not sure if I still have the original remote control to change the settings.)

I did find the original remote and tried to use the convergence feature to get the double picture out, but it did not work. The double picture is "off" in opposite directions top to boitom. Therefore, when I adjust the convergence up, it fixes one half the screen and makes the other half worse. When I adjust it down, it does the opposite. I really would like to "reset" the picture, but I don't know how to do it.
    Thank you.

Your set has bad convergence ic's and possibly some open resistors or pico fuses. This is a very common problem with this set and all 3-tube projection sets. Unfortunately it is a complicated job and takes a good bit of experience and time, especially to set one up after replacing the bad parts, so you will need a tech to repair it. Our shop gets around $250-$300 dollars to do a convergence job like yours will need and most shops get around the same amount. I've repaired I don't know how many projection sets of these for this problem.

Sounds like you need new convergences ICs. There are two of them in your set sometimes you can get away with just replaceing one of them but I wouldn't recommend it. They are not too expensive are 15.00 each once you replace them you have to get into the service mode and adjust the convergence.
