Power issue

i just recieved a laptop from a friend of mine, i plugged it in since he usually allows the power to die and i cant get it to start up...any suggestions?

I have the same problem.

Unplug the laptop from the power and also disconnect the battery, leave it like that for a good 3 minutes. then plug everything back in.
