Question about Moen 2919 Chateau Two Handle Tub and Shower Faucet With Standard Valve In C

1 Answer

Hello. We have a Moen two handle tub/shower faucet. A little over a year ago it started to make a high pitched noise when on. Now the water flow to both the tub and shower are greatly reduced for BOTH the hot and cold water. We have replaced the cartridges in both hot and cold and have replaced the tub outlet spout. Still no improvement in the flow. Any idea what might be going on and what we might need to do about it? Thanks

Sounds like the diverter inside the valve body is cloged with debris.

only wat to remedy this is to remove the valve and clean out the diverter, or just replace the valve.

I installed a Moen L2353E tub/shower faucet and water won't come out of shower head

Couple of ideas: If you don't get water at all first check to see if the shut-off valves are open. If so, close them and remove and clean the cartridge. If water comes from the spout and not the shower head, make sure the diverter (the handle on the tub spout) moves up when you pull it. If that works, remove and clean the shower head since there might be debris blocking the water flow. Without
more info this is my best guess.

I have a Moen tub and shower system similar to the Moen 2919 Chateau two handle above. When I turn on the faucets up to 1/2 way everthing works fine. If I try to increase the water capacity by turning up...

To talk about your problem forces me to assume a few things.....If you allow the water to flow without cartridges and handles, the water must be flowing straight through the cartridge channels and out into the tub. It is not flowing through your tub spout or shower head when you test the water this way. If I'm correct, then the problem is isolated to the water mix operation. That means coming out of your spout or shower head. So now I have to ask a question. When you operate as normal (cartridges and handles installed) does your problem show up only on your shower head or does it also show up when operating out of the tub spout? If the problem is isolated to the shower head, try a head replacement. It may be partially plugged. If it's head or spout there may be something in the mixing pipe that only shifts around as pressure increases. I hope that is not your problem. It would require pulling those pipes out for inspection and most likely replacement. Nimsgame

Installed a new moen adler tub faucet with shower diverter. When you turn on the shower water continues to come out of the tub faucet. Is there an adjustment or is it just the way it is??

Our Moen always dribbled a little since the diverter is metal-to-metal and doesn't really have any seal. The loss shouldn't be a stream though.

Moen shower/tub faucet

hi... yes that's a very common issue with moen "cartridges" -- it's very simple to fix..... grasp the handle and give it a gentle tug upwards when the water is on... if it retracts again, pull the handle out again and tug again but this time a bit harder. Not sure what causes this on new cartridges but it will fix your issue.
