Dryer will heat up normally, but after the first time, it will not fire up...drum continues to spin and it cools off. I wait a few minutes and try it..same thing.

GAS DRIER HEATS UPS AND THEN IT GOES OUT. IT WILL GLOW AND THEN IT WILL NOT FIRE UP AFTER THAT.

I had this problem and just fixed it. The vent duct in the back of the dryer was completely clogged with lint causing the dryer to overheat and the limiter to shut off the burner. I opened the back of the unit, loosened the duct from the blower and vacuumed it out. Also make sure your vent hose is clear and the exhaust flapper works correctly. While you are at it you should open the front access panel and vacuum everything out. My dryer works like a charm now.

Samsung gas dryer heats up and then stops. No lint in dryer trap or hose. What could it be? Heating Element? Reset button? Please help! !

The key to your issue is the gas dryer. you need to know how it works to be able to diagnose it. A gas dryer will only fire up if the thermostat calls for heat and the hi limit thermostat is not tripped and the gas valves open and the igniter fires. Any of these not working will not lt dryer fire up the heat.
lets assume the running thermostat is ok since it fires up initially and they seldom are intermittent. A restricted vent would trip the high limit t-stat quickly and would not fire up again till it cools down and resets, since you have stated that the vent is clear and unrestricted we will again assume the hi limit stat is not the problem
(it still could be if it was faulty and opened up prematurely, but again that is not one of the more frequent issues). The flame detector needs to be satisfied to continue the burn after flame is ignited. The detector is a simple device that is located on the burner plenum and is a bi-metal with a clear window that lets light (flame) through to a bi-metal switch that will interrupt gas supply in case there is no flame. these again are not on the most frequent list of parts going bad.
The most likely cause of this problem is a bad igniter. they glow orange on start up and ignite the gas. even though they glow orange does not mean they are good, most develop cracks in the ceramic material and are very brittle. If a crack is present you seldom can see it and often will look normal in operation, but once heated the second cycle of heat fails to ignite. This can be measured cold by resistance check compared with standard value. I often just change them on a hunch , saves time and part cost is not high. Labor time is often higher checking it's value. Another possibility is an intermittent gas valve and that is harder to diagnose and it is an expensive part. Seldom is the valve intermittent though.
This should give you a good start, good luck

MAYTAG GAS DRYER NOT HEATING

That sounds to me like you need to replace the coils. They get intermittent with age. Work some then quit take a long time to cool down and work a little more when going bad.

The Hi and Lo gas valve coils do they work in tandem ? Does the Lo stays on all the time ? Ruy ...

Their is 2 coil hosing but one of them has 3 wires and 2 coils inside it. The ignitor does 2 jobs, it lights the fire and acts as a thermocouple through the holding coil. If the flame does not ignite after the sensor detects the heat from it and shuts down then once the ignitor cools down the gas valve is shut down even if power is going to the gas valve. When the temp drops below 105f in the drum the control closes contacts inside allowing power to be supplied to the gas assembly. The ignitor and flame sensor along with the booster holding and secondary coils are all energized at once but the solenoids won't open the valve because the ignitor is hogging the power. The power supplied to it runs through the flame sensor. When the temp inside the sensor reaches a point the bi-metal inside tripped the power to the ignitor and the power gets diverted over to the secondary coil. Thr flame stays on till the temp inside the drum reaches 160f at which time the control thermostat opens circuit to the gas assembly and power is shut down. The drum continues to tumble and when the temp drops once agin below 105 the process is repeated and another blast of heat is shot into the dryer. So what goes wrong? Faulty flame sensor sticking/open, cracked ignitor, old coils that work intermittently or not at all when hot but work again when cooled.themobilian_2866.jpgthemobilian_2865.jpg themobilian_2868.jpgMore here.

Dryer drum spinning no hot air

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:
Sounds like your problem may be with the heating coil. Remove the back/or front just under the door of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside/outside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistors. Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
If the heating coil is ok, then:
You can check the thermostat/thermistor one at a time by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape or with an ohm meter to test the thermostat/thermistor. (Should have/show continuity)
If the coil heats up then replace the thermostat/thermistor.
(Thermal fuse.If it overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset. A vent clogged with lint can cause it to overheat. You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, if no continuity, replace it)
DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST.
This could cause a FIRE, as you have removed the safety of overheat from the machine.

Gas Dryer only runs burner once after starting, why

Lets see, you have power to the gas assembly so the fuse is good and the ignitor will fire up. But she won't fire off again. The flame sensor is working because the ignitor is coming on and off. That means the control thermostat is working so everything is working. So what's the problem. Simple.933a1bb.jpg The solenoid coils heat up and quit on these machines with a little age. Very difficult to diagnose unless you know the trick.
