Question about Toshiba 32CV510U LCD TV

Open Question

Toshiba 32cv510u. TV turns on. No picture, but has sound. Can hear it cycle through the channels. INPUT stations have the same effect. Is it a bad lamp? The screen appears to still be backlit. About how much for repair costs? This occurred immediately after a thunderstorm.

SOURCE: Toshiba Regza sound but no picture

I had the same problem last night - sound but no picture form any of the inputs - DVD, VCR, FIOS or antenna. I could still see the TV menu. If you go to the TV menu - you can go to the settings (far right top), from there you can choose to restore factory settings, usually needs a code - 0000 (if you did not choose a different one), select yes when prompted if you want to restore factory defaults. This brought my picture back. I lost all of my picture preferences i had set - but at least I got a picture! I hope this helps!!

SOURCE: Toshiba 26LV610u TV with no sound on one channel

If you have lost sound on only one station and are using cable or an antenna directly to the TV. Look in the audio settings as most likely the SAP mode is turned on. If the TV detects a SAP signal even if there is no audio this is what you will end up with.

Check the Chanel 7 broadcast signal on the other tv have sound, could caused by the tv broadcasting signal from the tv station itself.Check if ur tv have a function known as S.A.P. make sure it is off, could effected no tv audio problems, because the tv station in ur city or town don't broadcast in that signal frequencies.

It sounds that the T'Con board is faulty. This is a common fault to most of the LCD TV, irrespecitve of brand and model. Just visit this site named 'Electro-help'. so many similar faults and repair to them are described in detail there. Check this link and select the site named above.

Went to turn the TV on and it will not come on. No sound or picture. There as been no movement or anything done to the TV.

More likely to have power supply failure, the power supply is always running to supply the power to the processor waiting to get th turn on command form the remote control. Look for bad caps in the power supply and check the fuse, Need to verify if you do have the standby 5vdc, you must have this voltage before going any further.

My 32" Toshiba LCD HDTV keeps freezing on the same channel and when I try to change the channel or input selection, it doesn't respond(to the remote or directly on the TV.) The only thing that works is...

These problems are normally caused by the TV station.

1. Call the TV station responsible and ask for the network engineer.
2. Tell him the Day, Time, Channel, Program, basically every little detail about the problem.
3. The station will normally check it and fix it.

Also, contact Toshiba and tell them. Really this is part of the DTV Transition thing. Many stations are reconfiguring and settin up equipment. They sometimes make mistakes. Don't worry much about it unless it continues for more than a week. If you like the station, I would call right away.

No audio on any channel, even in audio setup mode, no audio headp

If you have any of its sound outputs connected to a TV or tape deck do they get the signal? If so, then we know there is sound processing somewhere inside the unit but not emerging to anyplace that requires amplification.

A quick basic check would be to tune an FM station, run an RCA cable pair from the audio output for a tape deck (see the picture at the link) to an analog audio input on your TV. Select that input on the TV and you shouls hear the FM station, or anything the receiver is configured to play. If it's silent then there is no audio signal circulating in the receiver to get out to the amplifiers.

Check to make sure Multi-Channel input is not selected unless that is what you're listening to as it bypasses all other sources analog and digital EXCEPT the tape; and check any Mute or Zone Controls, too.

If you hear the program on the TV but not through any attached speakers, then the amplifiers are all disabled for some reason. The click I asked about before... when you turn it on does it get a click about 5 seconds later. That would be the protection circuitry turning OFF to allow the amplifiers to function.

I notice it has a Tape function. Make sure it isn't selected as it assumes a tape deck or processor is attached and will only play back what would be coming FROM the tape deck or processor. On my Pioneer receiver it also disables any digital signal processing.

Sometimes when I'm watching TV with the remote on the seat someone moves and something bad happens. It's always some unfamiliar button that gets touched unintentionally. Look over the remote for things like MUTE, Multi-CH, Tape.

Tv/remote input problems

Try plugging your cable box in using a/v cables (red, white, yellow) and see if you have a picture on a different input from the box. If so, go into your general settings in the box and change the output channel to 4 instead of 3. Then try your TV on 4 and see if your picture comes in. I have seen TV tuners go out on just one channel before.

Channel Reception

It sounds like a defective tuner or a IF module as well. It may also be a defective capacitor(s) or cold solder joints inside the tuner circuitry. I woud suggest to use a VCR or a TV convertor connected to an Audio/video input to change channels instead of fixing it.
Good Luck.
