Question about Hunter Ceiling Fan Control Switch

My Rhine receiver went out on my ceiling fan (HamptonBay). When I took the fan apart I noticed the receiver has pink,gray,red & yellow wires going into a clip then the fan motor has a pink,gray, red & yellow wire going into a clip. I had to seperate the wires from the clip and remove the broken receiver. Then I purchased a receiver from Lowes and of course it has a black, white wire and blue for lights. I took a guess and connected: RECEIVER MOTOR IN BLK BLK OUT GRAY PINK IN WHT WHT OUT YELLOW RED Now the fan works but only on low speed. Also the light from the fan housing has a BLK & WHT meshed cord and I connected both to the BLUE wire, and the ligth does not work. Help

Please confirm the model no. of your Rhine Receiver. Is it from this site.

I am assuming the replacement receiver you got from Lowe is compatible to your fan. Do you have a part no. for it?

When you say it works only on low speed - is that it only works on one low speed when you select the different speeds from Remote or does it only work on the LOW speed on remote and has no movement with the other setting?

A bit risky to take guesses with wires if you are dealing with mains power voltages. I hope we can sort this out.

    Yes it is the first receiver UC7058GMRX.. or identical(older model). The receiver I bought from Lowes is a generic one and is not U shaped like the Rhine. The remote that came with the Lowes receiver has 3 speed options but when you press the fan button on remote it either turns off or on slow slow speed. I would settle for 1 high speed or off. Someone suggested I hardwire the fan directly to the ceiling wires, but I have multi colored option wires from the motor and only blck whte green pink(capped)0 from the ceiling. I wonder if i need to cap one of the colored wires i.e cap yellow and connect red to white. Suggestions please?

    I am not able to provide suggestions on how you might directly connect the fan to the ceiling wires. For this you may want to consult an electrician who can check your home wiring before connecting. Normally there should only be black, white and earth wires.



    Wondered if you have checked with Hampton Bay itself whether they sell a replacement remote for their fans. For example check http://www.ceiling-fans-n-more.com/_imag..." target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >this.



    In case you are not aware you need to contact The Home Depot support line and ask them. They might also have a life-time warranty on certain products and may replace the remote free of cost.

You need to get the correct receiver, if this fan came with a remote. The model # should be a five digit number starting with a 2. After you get the correct model # then call 1-888-830-1326 and order the correct part.

Wiring diagram for a 3 way ceiling pull switch.


These fans are manufactured by a number of overseas companies and sold exclusively by Home Depot. They do not have a standard color code for the fan switch. What you can do is turn off the power, keep the white neutral connected. Then using the black power wire fro the ceiling, take one of the switch wires and connect to that black, turn the power on and observe the speed .. low mark it 1, medium mark it 2, high mark it 3. Repeat untill you have identified all the speed wires. Then connect these wires to the 1,2,3, terminations of your new switch

The reverse switch on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan didn't work. I cut the 6 wires; 1 white, 1 gray, 2 pink, 2 yellow. Here's what I did. Removed reverse switch. Had 6 wires white, gray, 2 yellow, 2 pink. Connected gray to yellow, connected white to pink and fan runs fine. Is this OK? I do not need to reverse fan. It's been running for 1 hour now with no problems. Don S.

Hunter Ceiling Fan 25885 remote won't turn off light


Hello,
I have this fan model. The RED is a common wire. Wire it in with all the white wires. Better yet why don't you just bypass the module for the light. You could buy a more up to date Lutron wall switch W/remote control. The Black wire W/White stripe coming from the module is the light control. Cut & cap this with a wire nut. The same wire coming from the fan motor Connect it to your new wall switch. Now heres the tricky part. You have to run a new (Non switched) hot wire to your fan this will connect to the module normally. This is the new power for the fan. The remote that comes with the fan can serve as the On/Off 1,2 & 3 speeds. You now have two remotes. One for the fan the original and one for the light control w/wall switch. The new Lutron model will give you full dimming capability for incondesent bulbs. It is much less noisy when you are dimming the light down.

Black is hot-white is neutral-blue is your light kit and goes with the black- yellow? should be a green for ground.

if you indeed have a 23852 hunter original...

Black goes to L, High is Red, Gray is medium and yellow is low. Make sure you have the right switch.
