That would be a bad IC (integrated chip). Sometimes tapping on thhem will cure it tempoarily.

Why does my picture have a washed out appearence about it?

think you have bad solder the best way to find out if you do have bad solder take tool that is rubber and tap on the bord of the big screen to see whear the bad solder I thinking it maybe by the conv chip are at stk392-120 or 110.. thear are two of them mit are knowing for bad solder.. I done a lot of them I been doing them for 13 or more.. STK392-110 - Stk392-110 Sanyo IC 18-pin SIP
The STK392-110 is a convergence correction circuit IC for video projectors. It incorporates three output amplifiers in a single package, making possible the construction of CRT horizontal and vertical convergence correction output circuits for each of the RGB ...

Screen goes black but audio still works fine.

It sounds like the vertical output IC may have some solder issues. Often bad solder in the vertical circuit will cause the CRT'S ( Picture tubes) to shutdown for protection during loss of deflection and audio will continue to function. I would inspect the solder on the Vertical IC first.

My crt monitor has been displaying horizontally coloured lines.iam chechking all the cables but it is ouite right now pls help me

Hello, this is vertical IC loose connection. The vertical output components either a transistor or an IC is probaly got a bad solder joint. Also another possibility is the deflection pins. Buy soldering iron and solder from electronic work to repair the connections.Take the back off of it after it is unlpugged and disconnected from the computer and check the bottom of the circuit board for bad solder joints.I recommend you to be serviced by a technician.

Rolling lines until tv warms up

Vertical output IC bad capacitors in vertical circuit 100uf 35v sometimes vertical IC needs to be resolder and that fixes problem look for poor solder joint s.

The television once on has good picture then black rectangular blocks the bottom half of the screen showing only half the picture, very annoying. how can i fix this myself?

look for the vertical section of the printed circuit board.there is a vertical driver ic and it is maybe bad...... either the soldering,or the ic.
if you bang on the tv and the picture regains deflection, there is a bad solder joint or connection.
there are a few capacitors too 100mf 25 volt 4.7 50v also 22mf at 50v

Vertical line in center have replaced vertical output ic

If the line is vertical then the problem is no horizontal deflection. The vertical chip is probably fine.

Check connections around yoke (thats the connector with at least four wires that goes up to the coils around the neck of the tube)

Maybe that TV has two horizontal output transistors. One for deflection and one for high voltage? Check both of them. Look for bad solder joints!!!

Picture loss

Sounds like vertical deflection circuit problem. Could be as simple as a bad solder joint around a heavy component such as a transformer, a bad capacitor, overheated resistor, bad IC or transistor, or combination of these. Repair would require knowledge and experience.

Vertical line in center

If the line is "vertical" then the vertical circuit sounds OK. The problem would be in the horizontal deflection.

Check yoke connection and solder around horz defl circuit.

If the line is horizontal then I would suspect the vertical IC.

Vertical Deflection problem

i also suspect its just bad solder connections, the vert. o/p ic is maked ic451 look for all the ic's on heatsinks. it should have 10 to 15 pin all in a straight line & be attached to a small heatsink. if i remember right i think if you are looking at the tv from the back it is on the left side near the front (by the buttons/swtitches). resolder all the pins on the ic & resolder the parts just around the ic as they too also develop bad solder connections. just remember to check for shorted pins after soldering. good luck.
