Question about Washing Machines

2 Answers

I have a harmony wpgt9350 washer that will not spin cycle. A message will appear to balance the load. I've checked for a blockage from the tub to the pump and from the washer to the drain. There's no blockage, what else can I check?

You could have a broken suspension rod or stretched straps. Their are 4 rods and 4 straps. The rods hold the weight of the tub and the straps control the lateral movement. Use this service manual as a GUIDE to help you repair your washer.

Gee I gave you the EXACT service manual for your model number you posted. You could not do nothing with that? Thanks.

The service manual is correct for the model in question, however, the picture on page 29 shows a picture of the top of the tub, but doesn't show any straps. The picture posted on your second reply is different from the manual posted. thanks...

You could have an unbalanced load. Either too much is on one side, or you could have bad washer dogs which keeps the tub centered. Make sure your agitator is not loose as well.

The spin cycle on my GE Profile Harmony washer has gone violent, what can cause this?

probably unbalance load inside, try to stop, move what's inside and restart, or maybe there is not enough inside and cannot balance ( one heavy item, add some item so it can balance them when spinning )

Your load is out of balance.
If you have a heavy item, spread it around the tub to balance the load.
It is normal for the tub to shake during the spin cycle. The washer has a safety feature, if it is too badly out of balance it will shut itself down and sound an alarm.

Check the inter tub ring you should hear water when you spin it by hand
if you dont hear water replace the spin tub balnce ring it must be cracked or has a hole in it and leaked out the fluid this is a counter balancer when it gows into the spin cycle

Maytag atlantis washer doesnt spin on spin cycle, also found plastic shavings in clothes, appear to be coming from the top outer edge of the tub, a white plastic trim piece. wash cycle seems to work fine...

There can be several causes, the drum off balance would cause the shavings during spin cycle , balance could be one of the the balancing mechanism failed and not running could be the balance sensor shutting down the spin cycle. You should start by checking the balance shocks .

Is off balance during the spin cycle mor often

I have a 10yr old Maytag Atlantis model MAV7258AWW. Here is how I solved my balance problem. It appeared that I had two problems. One was that it would not spin fast, the second was that it would spin off balance. To get the washer to spin fast like it should I had to open the lid then close it, re-engaging the spin cycle. I opened the top and watched the motor engage in the spin cycle. with the top open, I would open and close the lid activating the lid switch. Each time I closed the lid I noticed that the motor would move a little bit more on its glides to tighten the belt. Sort of like a automatic adjuster. The motor is designed to pivot one way for the agitator the other way for spin. If the motor does not pivot correctly, the belt will not tighten and will slip. I removed the front panel, cleaned and lubed the pivot area. Now the motor glides on the pivots like it should. I ran the spin cycle and the motor slid all the way to one side like it should, the belt tightens and the spin cycle spins. Now that the spin cycle works, quess what?? The balance problem is fixed as well. It appears that the reason that the tub was going off balance was because the belt was slipping not spinning the tub at maxium speed as designed causing the off balance problem. The tub was not spinning fast enough causing the off balance problem. I have ran several loades in the washer and not a problem. I did replace the snubber, it was worn out but it still spun off balance. I hope this helps to all who have a balance problem.

Agitator problem

Check to see if any thing is under the agitator. If not then maybe the bearings going out or other part of machine . Besure the cap is tighten so agatator don't come off. Check for ware on agatator top to the tighting nut.

sounds like a drain pump issue, not able to remove water quick enough before the centrifical force of tub spinning throws it over the top, remove the pump hoses and look for blockages
