My LG TV is not coming on and is making a clicking sound

These newer type Smart TVs have a small round (disc) capacitor that protects the main circuit board from thermal overload. IF the stand-by light comes 'on' and the TV screen won't illuminate, then that's the issue. If the TV stand-by light doesn't come 'on' at all, check the power fuse. It will be near the power supply input into the circuit board... glass or sometimes ceramic cylinder shaped. Radio Shack has them... bring the old one with you as the fine numbers are hard to read. If it's the capacitor, you'll need to locate it on the main circuit board and unsolder it and then get a new one to replace it. The part is less than $3 and the soldering pencil kit with electronics solder is under $15. A schematic will make finding the thermal protection capacitor easy.

Main Speaker Not Working

IS there a circuit board inside that speaker? You are correct about the general loss of sound quality that usually occurs with speaker failure. Best way to check is with a meter or a scope

Is there a picture tube for the Theaterview Toshiba (1996)? The picture sometimes takes more than an hour to emerge. I have to

if you are getting for the first 15 minutes or so lines or noise left to right on the screen that does go away (but is taking longer as time passes) you have a Hyper board failing---Google that for your set.

WHY DOES MY TOSHIBA TZ61V61 loose picture but not sound. Unplug from power wait a few minutes plug it back in and it works

The vertical deflection has stopped which cuts off the picture tubes to prevent burn in. Check the vertical output or the deflection board may need replacement.

My Toshiba TheaterView has no sound or picture

You may have overloaded your audio output with the external speakers(impedance or short wire problem?)as a result the audio out i.c maybe damaged which in turn may have blown one of several fuses in the power supply.maybe regular GMA type fuse or picofuses, you can try replacing blown fuse but if they blow right back you`ll need the help of a repairman

Sound but no video HPT5054 Samsung

One of your transformers on the inverter board are failing to sustain regulated power to the florescent lamps resulting in a dark picture. Also check the SMD fuses on the inverter board(s) see if they have blown. You will need a continuity meter to check them. You can get one from radio shack and be sure to get one with audible sound....you don't have to replace boards when you can fix them.

If the relay clicks you most likely have a leaky diode or bad transistor in the stand by or start up circuit. There is a manual available for that model called. Toshiba Power Supply and Shutdown circuit Troubleshooter. Its available at the following link. It gives step by step instructions so you can figure out exactly whats wrong with your set. The site emails it too you after you place your order and they also provide free unlimited tech support so you will have a resource for help if you need it. I am one of their on line support techs. I highly reccomend that Manual to any one with a toshiba that will not power up. Here is the link.

No Picture, Sound Fine

Hey John, How many times does the light blink? No blinks - Problem in the standby power section. Might check fuse, R607, Q601, IC601, R612 and VDR601 (should show open). Continuous blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective. One blink - not used for the self-diagnosis Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits. Three blinks - B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672. Four blinks - No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505 Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the Cboard, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly. Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206. Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits. Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401, and 402. On some newer models of Sony TV sets, this code means that T8005 is defective on the D board. Nine blinks - Replace D 6116 and D 6301 on the "G" board, do not resolder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive). Ten blinks - Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board. I suggest you do a hard reset. Unplug the power cord for 4 hours. Then plug it back in and check it. If it works, great. It not, cost of repair for this is usually around $150 - $250 plus the house call.
