Question about Panasonic KX-T7730 Corded Phone

1 Answer

We have a KX-TA624 phone system connected to a TVS50 voice processing system. I have one user who has a KX-T7730 phone and his message button wont light when a voice message is left for him. I know the light works, because I can turn the light on using the 701 feature. All my other users message waiting lights work fine. Also, I have swapped his phone out with a new one and that didn't help. It must be a setting for his extension but I am unable to find it. Any help is appreciated

The user may have brushed onto the 62x commands to change or turn off message notification. From the subcriber's mailbox, choose option 621 and make sure it's enabled, then 622 and make sure you're using option 2. (continuous). If neither of these work, have the owner log into mailbox 999 and make sure that the owner's extension of the broken extension matches the extension. That's option 611 mailbox number and follow the prompts. The extension is the mailbox.

Hi Carl, thanks for your help!

In the subscribers mailbox I checked 621 and it said the message waiting lamp was enabled. I then tried 622 and it said, "Enter device number 1 through 3". I picked 2 and it said "Telephone number is not assigned". I checked 622 at another extension and it said the same thing. It doesn't sound to me like I am getting what you expected at 622.

When I terminal into the tvs50 with a serial cable and pull the mailbox report, the MBox Extn. and CExtn all show the same. So It looks like everything matches like it should. This is what you wanted me to check in mailbox 999 right?

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Matthew

Yes. That was it. Well, odd and I don't have a TVS online (TVA is my system). What happens if you plug a Panasonic phone into the VM port and dial 701-xxx? If it lets you set every other one but this one, I would have guessed it's software in the VM system. If you can manually set it from the port with a system phone, then it still has to be something in the VM.

I am not sure I understand. Are you saying plug a phone directly into one of the ports on the TVS? I tried that but the phone doesn't "wake up" when plugged into the VM port. I have no tone and can't dial anything. I did try to dial 701-xxx from my phone and it did turn on the message waiting light on his phone. Does plugging directly into the TVS eliminate a possible issue with the switch or something? Maybe I should try switching his extension to a different port on the switch. Does that sound like a worthwhile test?

No, plug the phone into the port that the TVS is plugged into (either 107 or 115). Your system phone should light up as it's a regular system port.

From that port, dial 701-xxx and see if it lights the station that didn't light before. If it does, you have a TVS problem.

How to active caller id for panasonic kx-t7730

It depends what telephone system the KX-T7730 is connected to. You should have a Panasonic box that says 'KX-TA624', 'KX-TEA308, 'KX-TES824' or similar somewhere.
Depending which Telephone System you have, it may just need programming or it may need an additional card (circuit board) installing. Panasonic KX TEA TES Telephone Systems Tiny Telecom

The KX-T7730 isn't an answering machine. You need to refer to the documentation for whatever answering/voicemail system you have it connected to. Alternatively, repost your question specifying the make and model of the answering/voicemail system.

The 7730 is a Panasonic Analog System phone. It plugs into a Key Service Unit and the line port plugs into the PAP2T device. Model numbers like KXT-A624/824 are examples.

I installed a caller id card in my kx-ta624 panasonic system in my home. The manual I have describes kx-t7030 phones with a caller id indication button but my phones kx-t7730 do not have a button and so I...

You get to program it :-)

In the User's manual section 2-2 there's an alpabetic index for Caller-ID. It requires 2 buttons, a CID-Indicator and a CID-Select button. We usually put them as the top 2 buttons in a 773x series phone, but you'll have to pick 2 adjacent or similar CO buttons. You label them CID-I and CID-S. Then you program them for either 96 and 97 or 6 and 7. You also have to tell the programming that you are setting up the common CID if you use 96&7.

I have a Panasonic KX-T7730 phone and the red light at the top of the phone is on how do I get rid of it? Thank you!

Press the MESSAGE button and read the display. It will tell you who has left a message. It may be from the voice mail system or from another user. You can cancel them all by dialing 700 0, 700 and your extension, or *700 and your extension, depending on what system the phone is attached to.
