Question about Toshiba 43H70 43" Rear Projection Television

Toshiba 43" Rearpro, takes a while for picture to come up?? Can you please help??

Hi there

I have a Toshiba 43" rear pro tv, and it seems now to take a while for the picture to come on. Sometimes it will turn on quick and other times it will take ages, I can hear that the tubes are still going just no picture or blue screen of any sort. Once it comes on its usually sweet as, sometimes will flicker or roll a bit. Any suggestions as to what it could be is much appreciated.

Cheers
Russ

    Hi again.

Awsome thanks for that, sorry to sound a bit dumb lol but where is the vertical output ic? Now I have just tried the tv and no picture comes on, only sound, although the tubes are still working. Is there a video board fault or sometihng of the sort? Do you have a service manual for this? its a Toshiba 43vh9ua.

    Thanks again for any help

    Cheers

Awsome, I've signed up and paid for the manual. How long does it usually take before it will come through?

  • Rusteee Apr 26, 2008

Yep, hope this is the e-mail now. I hope it is just the ic's, I can here the tubes start up, and then when left on and then turn off all the static discharge or whatever it is doing, and when the pic does come on it comes on instantly so the tubes must have been already going. I can't seem to get any picture out of it now, I did before but then it just went all funny and has gone again.

Awsome, seems the online technician has gone off lol, are the vertical IC's the 2 main ones located at the back of the board attatched to the 2 big heat sinks?

  • Rusteee May 03, 2008

Dammit, after fitting new IC I get no picture at all not even after waiting, but the green tube only just lights with a whole heap of lines that go across and half way down start bending towards the bottom of the screen,,,,?????? Any ideas

Try resoldering the vertical output ic, see if that helps.

its usually the vertical output ic that needs resoldering or replacement when the tubes light but no picture. The other site where I work as a support tech does have your service manual for sale which they email you right after purchase, and they then provide you with fre unlimited yech support by on line instant nessageing to help you repair your set even locate any part that you need. heres the link, I put your n=manual on the front page in case you'd like it its easier to find that way. heres the link.

definately sounds like the vertical IC as thats what happens they blank out to protect the tubes when the vertical drops out then its instantly on when the vertical comes back up.

Toshiba 43" Rear Projection tv (Just show's Blue Screen)

Hi Chris,
It sounds like you have a tuner problem. Usally the set will turn blue if there is no signal to the set, which is first generated from the tuner. It could also be the processor on the main board, but I would look at the tuner first.
Good luck and I hope this has helped

Toshiba TN43V71 43 in rear projection

Hello WendyOreo,

It sounds like your switching power supply or you High Voltage power supply has malfunctioned. These sections control all power to the TV and can produce the situation you are describing. If you do not have a background in electronics, I would suggest that you have a TV repairperson come over and check your TV out.

I say this because there are voltages in a TV set that can kill, so caution is needed.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

If you have the ability to work on solid state electronics and know how these circuits work, you will need to replace the convergence IC's in this TV set. If you do not, call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck

Wavy lines

This TV uses small voltage regulators. On each side of the regulators is the input voltage and the regulated output voltage on the other side. There are capacitors used for stabilization on the input and output. Change these capacitors.
