Question about Viking 36 in Designer Series Freestanding Counter Depth Bottom-Mount Refrigerator - DDBF036

1 Answer

When closing the refrigerator door, the suction is minimal so the seal is not really strong in the closed door position. Consequently, condensation builds at the interior door jamb and the exterior door surface which drips down into the freezer and eventually necessitates manual defrosting. Any suggestions?

Door not creating suction when door closes

the door may need adjusting
cut an place a strip of paper between the seal and the fridge and close the door
if the paper pulls out easily then the seal is not touching fridge
The suction is created when the warm air from the room that gets into the fridge when the door is opened is cooled down and occupies less space hence the lower pressure and the vacuum forms

I have a frigaire ice box with french doors the freezer will not stay closed

(1) make sure nothing is protruding out ward toward doors, (2) make sure the sealing area is clean along with the seal. These doors do not have a latch, has suction seals. now when you close it PUSH in-ward on door to cause a suction seal..(.a long ham bone could be hindering it.)

Electrolux Built in freezer door not closing.

I'm suspecting the door also because of the lack of suction power. you have to check the gasket more. Frost around the door is a great indication of where warm moist air is coming into it.

Side by side kenmore refrigerator no suction on produce side

There is no suction normally. The door has a spring type mechanism to keep it firmly closed, and the magnetic seal takes up the slack. Check the door/ hinge is straight and tight and look at the top of the hinge. There is a small cylinder about 5mm high with a number of dimples in it. One of these should have a pin in it that operates the spring mechanism; if it is missing the door will not close well.

Also make sure there is nothing in the fridge protruding, stopping the door from closing and the seal sticking!

Have replaced seal on freezer door but I have lost suction to keep the door closed. (Push in door seal)

Sometimes the gaskets are a little bigger than the orginal. what to do is use duck tape or something to keep the door closed for 24 hours and this will help put the new gasket in the right position. hope this helps. wally

Subzero 561 When I close the door, there no suction sound that seals the door. It works on the freezer side but not the other side. I pulled out the lower draws to check for ice. Nothing there. There is...

The suction sound is made by the magnetic rubber sealing .and in this case it may be demagnetized ..(and need to be changed ) or it is just a matter of adjusting the hinges..They can be angled wrong ..and make it hard to close..or just need oiling to work better ..The fact that it stay closed..and if it has a little resistance when you open it . means it is not demagnetized..and it is probably just a hinge issue ..Usually the hinges are adjustable ..so check to see if you can make them close better ..and I mean easier ..
(check the door position -angle with a level ...also check the screws not to be too tight , or the hinges not to be rusty )

Problem openning door

when you close the door a reverse cycle fan sucks all the waisted air the fridge has just been exposed to out of the unit so it creates a good seal around the door rubbers this is perfectly normal .

Excessive moisture on ref compartment

Make sure the door seals are in good condition. If the doors do not close and seal properly it will cause moisture to be brought inside the refrigerator and condensate will form. The refrigerator should not be level like you would want. It should have the front leaning back a little to the back wall to keep the doors from opening when you close them. Let me know if this help you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Sub-zero 500 series refrigerator door wont stay closed

If Your Refrigerator's Freezer Door Pops Open When You Close the Fresh Food Door... If a 'top-freezer' refrigerator's freezer door pops open when the larger fresh food door's closed, it's actually a good thing. That tells us the seals are in great shape, sealing well.
Some freezer door 'pop' is unavoidable bc the bottom door's so much larger than the top one and the hydraulic effect of compressing all that air kicks in. The two compartments share the same air via a duct between them, and that compressed air rushes up into the freezer compartment and can 'pop' the door.
To improve the situation, apply a few drops of oil (sewing machine oil or 'three in one' - NOT WD-40) to each freezer door hinge pin. (Even better: if you can, pull the doors and coat the hinge pins with petroleum jelly). This will help the freezer door swing back closed by itself. The freezer door usually stays ajar because it's binding a bit, and that's usually caused by it's swinging 'dry', with no lubrication.
It’s also a good idea to ‘kick’ the habit of letting the refrig door close hard.
