Cd, Im not so sure that the wax motor would have anything to do with the problem. If the door is locking, I would say no. It sounds more like it is dropping a phase on the motor. On this model the motor still can run under light loads when one of the 3 motor phases is not working. When you mentioned grinding noise, if the motor is not functioning right, (loosing a phase) it will be noisier and make a growling noise. Im wondering if that is what you are hearing. We can rule out the motor or motor controller but you are going to have to do some tests with an ohm meter. This will also require removing the door, front panel to get at the motor controller. The motor and motor controller can be expensive so you need to decide whether you want to invest money into this Neptune. You decide and post back. I can walk you through the tests. Catriver.

SOURCE: Hot water fill problem
Replace or clean your water inlet valve. It appears that the hot water solenoid has either become clogged, or had failed. You can find a replacement at repairclinic.com. Type in your COMPLETE model number in the Search window and there will be two of them located under the "Water Valve/Float" heading. Depending on WHICH type of valve you have, a replacement costs between $28 and $74. Refer to the part illustrations to make sure you are ordering the correct part. If you require assistance in accessing the inlet valve, let me know. I hope this helps you.
PS If you attempt to clean the valve, you will need to turn off the water supply and disconnect the hoses. Check the inlet screens for sediment or debris.

The max extract button will do an extra spin to get any & excess water out of the clothes. It is a good thing to keep on to help cut down on drying time. If you find standing water in the washer, it is possible the hose is NOT in the correct position.

If the washer is removing all of the water from the washer during the spin cycle it is likely working properly. Not an expert but I believe max extract causes the washer to spin for a slightly longer period of time in order to remove more water from the clothes. We use it regularly because our clothes come out to wet otherwise.

does the door lock? if the answer is no then you have a blown resister on your main control board R11 and the reason it blew is your wax motor on your door lock is binding up. you need a new control board and wax motor.
