I have the same problem with this motherboard on XP SP3 Home. Would installing a PCI NIC card help? I even bought new speakers but still no sound!! My old & new speakers work perfectly on my antique Windows 98 pc.

2 days on the phone with Microsoft using remote didn't help either. I've spent weeks on this problem, looking for solutions.

Thanks for any help I can get.

Hi Ivan,
That single beep you hear is called P.O.S.T. Power on self test, telling you the board is fine. Your sound not funicationg is another story. The onboard sound (ALC655/ALC658 from RealTech) Must be enabled in your bios. How to enter my bios?
At power on press the delete key every two seconds & the main menu for the bios will open. You know you are in the right place because the time 7 date settings are listed. The online manual does not show any detail for your bios settings so guiding you is not going to help me, help you. How to move around in your bios? (No mouse & thats normal). Look at the bottom of the screen for instruction on how to move about. You need to find Advanced (Heading). In side advanced you should be able to fine audio settings. Your audio must be set to Enable or On. Again look to the bottom of the menu for instructions on how to move about. After setting the audio to enable Save & Exit the bios. The PC will restart by its self.
After windows finishes loading you can load the Biostar CD into your CD-ROM. It's splash screen should load. Click Drivers & install your (ALC655/ALC658), drivers. You can also download the drivers from this link & click Run.
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en-us/mb/driver.php?S_ID=141

RealTech has another updated driver at this link. (Click on the link & it will load the web site). http://www.realtek.cz/download.php?realtek=ALC250

After installing the software restart your PC & check your sound.

If after running the install files & restart you find no sound, you will have to try installing directly through device manager.
And that's another story!
Give it all a go & post back here if you need more tweaking.

Luck!
Mike

Hello try to download the manual:

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=4&m=CUSI-M&os=&hashedid=n/a

Select windows xp and open the manual folder
Click on global for download.
Unzip the file and you need adobe reader to read the content.

Here is a list of beep codes:

http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

This mainboard uses SD ram and it sounds like a ram problem.

If there is room for a ddr ram block you can`t use SD ram and DDR ram simultaneously.

Try to insert the old cpu again and upgrade the bios to support a bigger cpu. Not all cpu is supported.

Good luck

Computer beeps every 30 seconds

It is car brakes. Turn that game off.

OH, I'M JUST KIDDING!

BIOS speaker is broken, and you hear high pitched beeps?
Hmmmmm,..........

CPU temperature in normal............
What is the CPU, and what is the temp? Hey, I gotta know so we are on the same page here, lol!

Me?
Those repeated high pitch BIOS Beep Codes indicate a CPU problem.
I would remove the Heatsink/Fan combo, and replace the Thermal Paste.
(Following Anti-Static Precautions, and cleaning the CPU, and Heatsink, of course)

Also make sure the Heatsink is sitting flat.
Yes, I know what you stated about Speecy, and Core Temp, but I would try it anyway.

Still no?
CPU is sounding Taps, and telling you goodbye.

I need sound drivers for my cpu viak8 awrdacpi

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers if you dont have a motherboard disc you will have to download the drivers
cnetdownload.com if these drivers are not suitable on the home page you should see the download software finder under that there will be a list platform, category sub category price fromthe category drop down list select drivers then from the price drop down list select free or which ever applies to your need or you could try some of these

Hi, Do this beeping code for motherboard troubleshooting. First disconnect all memory, external video card, etc only motherboard and power supply. Then power on if you hear continuous beeping means the motherboard working good. Please do this beeping code troubleshooting.
No beeping means Short, No power, Bad CPU/MB, Loose Peripherals. One beeping means Everything is normal and Computer posted fine. Two beeping means POST/CMOS Error. One Long Beep, One Short Beep means Motherboard Problem.
One Long Beep, Two Short Beeps means Video Problem.
One Long Beep, Three Short Beeps means Video problem.
Repeated Long Beeps means memory error.

Get a series of error sound and 2 beep sound at the end when turn on my hp pentium4 and the system refuse to come up. pls, what could be the problem. thankx

Anything MORE than ONE beep indicates that the motherboard has detected a problem:
* bad RAM
* RAM not correctly "seated" in its socket
* one of the fans powered by the motherboard (CPU, case) is not spinning, or is not spinning fast-enough
* bad video-card

EXACTLY what sequence of "sounds/beeps" you do hear?

When I press the power button of my CPU i hear 3 Continuous beeps which repeats thrice. Again the beeps come during the windows login. This beep was not there in the begining. It started recently. But...

It is true that your computer is working properly without any trouble.Three continuous beeps means that your keyboard component is not ready to input the data. That's why it is calling you as beeps. You might have to check your keyboard that it is attached with the CPU properly or not.

try this: open the system restore utility (built-in with win XP if you have this OS), then select a date before you updated chipset drivers. Everything should come back the way it was...it really is a WINDOWS problem that is trying to talk to BIOS but can't for some reason.
