Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

1 Answer

The fan on my 13,500 BTU air conditioner started vibrating excessively yesterday when I started it. It doesn't matter what speed the fan is on it still vibrates. It has been approximately 2 months since it has been run. I took to cover off and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

Check fan blades carefully for bent blades and also check
the back of the blades.
If any blades are broken you may have to replace it.

2014 Heartland Gateway 3200rs. Only cools down to 85 degrees no matter what unit is set at

If the compressor is shutting down at a higher temp no matter where the stat is set it could be a control issue. If the machine runs continuously check the air in and out, there should be about a 20 degree difference. if there is more check to see if the filter or coils are dirty. If there is 10 or less but the face of the coil is wet the BTU gain is more than the machine can absorb.

I have a new motorhome and the air conditioner only reduces the inside air temperature by 2 degrees on a hot day. e.g. outside air temp 26 degrees inside temp 29 degrees. After 2 hours of a/c running with...

Can you tell me what size/make of motorhome you have? Certainly doesn"t sound right to me, and I've been working on them for over 15yrs. Whether it's a 13,500 BTU or 15,000 BTU, it should be plenty as long as motorhome has any insulation at all. I assume you have central air from ceiling?
The manufacturer usually states that the AC unit will supply 20F below ambient.
Is compressor staying engaged all this time?

Unit won't turn on

WHEN A COMPRESSOR FIRST STARTS TO RUN THERE IS AN INITIAL HIGH STARTING CURRENT(30 AMPS PLUS),BUT THIS SHOULD DROP BACK DOWN TO RUNNING CURRENT PRETTY QUICKLY.IF IT MAINTAINS THIS HIGH STARTING CURRENT FOR A WHILE THEN THIS GENERALLY INDICATES THE COMPRESSOR AT FAULT,BUT!!!!! ALSO CHECK TO SEE IF THE FAN IS NOT SEIZED. DISCONNECT THE FAN ELECTRICALLY THEN RUN THE UNIT. IF THE STARTING CURRENT MAINTAINS APPROX 6 AMPS THEN THE FAN IS AT FAULT!........HOPE THIS HELPS!!

I have a 13,500 btu coleman on our 1989 avion camper. It was making a very loud noise for some time, and vibrating then the motor locked up on it. My husband thinks the blower went out on it. It was...

You should be able to turn the fan motor freely by hand. If there is any resistance or the noise turning it by hand, then the fan motor is definitely bad. Is it a wall thermostat unit or manual controls? Wall thermostat, you can use a jumper wire from the 12+ terminal of the thermostat to the HG terminal and the fan should come on, if not, then the motor is bad.
