Tractor has been stood, had new head gasket but smokes white smoke and loses power when warm. What is wrong with it.. Any ideas..

Run a radiator pressure test or test for carbon monoxide vapor in the radiator. You have a cracked head or block if the head gasket was installed correctly. Note the installation would include measuring the block and head for warp.

The engine is not developing power and the presence of a load causes it to slow down and quit all together. Is there some sort of timing advance on that motor? In a car if the timing is not right that is exactly what happens when you put the car into gear and try to use it.

I would not mess with the valves till I check out the timing.

Hi. Begin by checking your blades, if they are dull they must be sharpened or that alone will bog down the engine. Also time for a new air filter. Happy mowing. J.

TRACTOR STARTS BUT LOSES POWER AND QUITS AFTER

Check to see if you have a fuel screen built into the top of the petcock (shut off valve) in the fuel tank. This may require you to drain the tank. Inspect the screen for being clogged. This is a very common problem. I hope this helps.

9N runs fine with a blade or no implement, but with the mower it loses power and sometimes stalls. I've tried adjusting the carb main jet but that didn't help

Ralph, I had something very similar with a ford 2000. It turned out to be a fuel problem and in fact the fuel filter was clogged. It was getting enough gas to run fine until you put it under a load. I really believe your problem is fuel. Check all fuel screens and filters. It could also be a carburetor issue but try filters first. Good luck.

Motor chokes and misses under moderate load and loses power

Sounds to me as tho it might need a carburetor adjustment, providing there is an adjustment screw on the carb. Sounds like the engine is running a bit lean. Did this problem occur right after the carb cleaning, or was it there in advance? Is there a fuel filter that might be clogged?
