Remove the starter assembly and left side cover to expose the flywheel and ignition module after trying a new spark plug gapped at 0.020". Remove the ignition switch wire from the module and try for spark again--if still nothing, use a thin business card for a gap gauge between the flywheel magnets and the module poles. Loosen the mounting screws, let the module contact the magnets through the card, then tighten the screws. Try for spark again--if still nothing, replace the module. Use the above procedure to install the new part. Hope this helps!

Chainsaw won't idle- runs fast only

Gently Tighten the carb adjustment screw fully tight then adjust it out 360 (full turn) then again a further 180 ( half a turn) and your idle speed should be set correctly. Let me know how you get on

How to adjust carb. on a poulan chain saw 38cc model 2175

If the carb is adjustable, it will have two small screws on it ( maybe covered with a plastic cap) One is low speed and the other is high speed. Adjust very little at first.

How to adjust a poulon pro chain saw 46cc 20" chain tighting

First, I'd read the manual if in doubt. No matter the type of adjuster, tool-less or not, you loosen the bar nuts, tighten the adjuster until the chain just touches the bar on the bottom (while holding the bar nose up) then tighten the bar nuts. Chain should move easily.
Re Poulan chain tightening. Be sure it's oiled and sharp, of course.

Saw won't start

Remove the spark plug and check for a snappy, blue spark. If nothing or very weak, try another plug. If still nothing, remove the switch wire from the ignition module. If still nothing, replace the ignition module. Use a thin business card to set the gap and have the magnets under the module poles. You should have spark at this point. If still won't fire, but has spark, try spraying some starting fluid into the plug hole, install the plug, and try to start. If you get a couple of pops, then check the fuel lines, fuel filter, and make sure the screws are tight on the carburetor. If still won't run, you may need to clean and re-kit the carburetor. Make sure the air cleaner and muffler are not plugged. Hope some of this helps!

Cannot tighten the chain bar

Make sure the bar is positioned on the bar adjusting pin before you tighten cover. Adjust tension with bar adjusting screw, then tighten bar bolts.
