If the display shows "Lb", the battery is probably low; replace it. Make sure you are buying brand-name batteries, EverReady, DuraCell, etc. not some cheap knock-off brand you may never have heard of. There is absolutely no quality control or minimum performance specifications for batteries that are marketed in the US and there is some REAL trash out there. If the display shows "Err", push and hold the Peak Level button. Does the display change to "E09"? If so, then you have just been "had" by the grossly under-documented "planned obsolescence feature" called, rather matter-of-factly, "End of Life". This means that ~7 years after first being powered up, the unit will, BY DESIGN, cease to function, forcing you to buy a replacement. Would have been nice of Kidde to include THAT warning on the OUTSIDE of the package. Call their "Hotline" at 1-800-880-6788 and tell them what you think of that policy. If it is still under warranty (5 or 7 years depending on date of manufacture) they should replace it. In any event, buy another one; if they replace your first one you will have twice the protection. Not a bad thing. *Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle. Words to live by: "Every creative act results from a sudden cessation of stupidity." -Edwin H. Detector shows 888 when first switched on then 0 then err with bleep

Showing 888 for a second is normal, it is a display test.
But Err means the unit is faulty or end of life (around 7 years), it can't be repaired so it should be disposed of and a new one bought.

I have a gt-11 detector, my question is when i touch a 120 volt wire whith electricity on i'm geting a full beeping ( stable ) and what the meaning of touching another wire and get a continuel beep beep...

It is detecting Residule voltage off the hot line, your common/Neutral should have no voltage. One thing I have noticed when using many non contacts if you are Holding a live wire (on the insulation)
I have gotten false readings (continous beeps) from the non-contact when checking neutral lines. Unsure as to why but something I have came across when trying to seperate wires while testing.

My Kidde Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide detector was beeping shrilly and read gas. When pressed the reset button it read 221. Problem was it was sitting facedown in a box (i'd just taken it from my old...

A reading of 221 ppm carbon monoxide gas is a dangerous level that should be taken seriously. You could try a new battery and reset the detector. If in doubt, always err on the cautious side and have the apartment checked by a professional or by the local fire department.

A new carbon monoxide detector is a small investment that may prevent carbon monoxide poisoning or death.

Periodically emits 3 loud beeps. Displays 888.

The CO detectors require replacement of the battery periodically.

Unlike smoke detectors, the detector element itself also requires replacement as well as the battery and is sold as a module with the battery attached.

British gas carbon monoxide detector problem

If it is beeping 3 beeps every minute it is at the end of its battery life you can just replace the batteries by prising the cover off carefully.be aware though that the life span guarantee of these is only 5 years.

Hopefully you have found a solution for your Carbon Monoxide Detector issue of October 4, 2009. The best solution for a questionable CO dectector is a replacement.

A Carbon Monoxide Detector is the only thing that will read, detect and sound an alert when reads dangerous levels of CO levels in your house. A defective carbon monoxide detector will give you and your family a false sense of security and will give you no protection.

Whenever in doubt, always err on the safe side and replace Carbon Monoxide Dectectors, your life depends on it.

Code 217 & 219

It's only the final steady number that is the reading. When you push TEST it will show 888 and beep annoyingly a few spaced times and then it will display a number between 100 and 400 (around 200 ,,, I had 217) that is just the detector testing to see if it can display numbers. These are NOT CO levels. Then it goes back to 888 and finally displays a steady number. If it's 0 then you're clear. All o f this from the owners manual.

I have a k 40 stealth mounted radar unit - it keeps faulting and giving me beeps like every 30 secs

if the beep is one beep every 30 secs then the front radar detector is defective. If it beeps 2x every 30 secs the rear radar detector is defective. If under warrantee you are good. If not, take to any dealer and cost $225 to get it replaced.
