Question about Trendware TEW-652BRP Router

2 Answers

My Trendnet 652BRP is working fine except for one problem. There is one certain website that I used often that it will not access. It will not access it though wired or wireless. All other websites appear okay. It will not access the website, nor can I receive mail from that website. The website and mail work fine direct from my cable modem without using the Trendnet. The website works fine from several other computers, phones, and laptops, so I'm pretty sure it's a router issue. It started when I was doing some maintenance to the website's forum. My cable modem company (cox) and my web host (Amhosting) say everything is fine on their end.

I'm sorry, I meant to add that I have tried multiple variations of reset, unplug, reflash firmware, modem/router off/on.

I appreciate the fast replies. I just went through the control panel for the website and did not see any blocks. I guess it's time to get a real router. Thanks Again.

Ether it accidently got blacked in the router or the router has a issue, I would check access restrictions under domains to make sure there is not filter activated by accident because this seems like a filter is causing this issue more then to say its a hard ware issue.

Ether the site is being bloacked by the router
Or the router is defective is the only two things I can come up with at this point, I would like more dtails like

1. was it working before
2. did you make any changes within the router
3/ have you reset the router back to factory defualts (have your tried that?)

Thanks I hope I was of some help please do click the accept button for my efforts or reply to me with more details, Thanks

    1. It has worked fine for about 6 months. It is a website that I visit often.
    2. I had made no changes to the router for 3 weeks before it began to fail.
    3. I have tried factory defaults.

It happened at a time when I was doing some work in a UBB forum control panel. Since that part of a program deals with databases and some of the deeper parts of my website, could that have triggered something within the router?

I doubt your website triggered anything, I am thinking at this point since you did firmware the router and that you tried direct from cable modem (COX) and it worked I feel it might be that time to get yourself a nice Linksys or d-link.

Routers do have a tendancy to go wicked on you at the end of there life, I am not going to say that you website is the issue when clearly when you hook it up direct to the cable modem it fails, and the fact you did all the resets known to man, I mean you got me guessing LOL :)

I do not want to guess you issue nor I do not want to say its the router just to close this issue but you tried every source we would try with you at this point, I would say its time for another router.

How old is the device? May be time for a new device? Has there been any electrical storms? Power surges? Tried different connecting cables? When you reset the device, hold reset for 30 secs., release, wait for selftest, unplug device for 30 secs., plug in, wait for selftest, connect with a Ethernet cable, reconfigure SSID and Security Key.

Hi we4here,

Welcome to Fixya. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type 192.168.10.1. The Default username is admin and the password is admin. Password is case sensitive.

You can also reset the router to its factory state but you need to keep in mind that all settings will be back to its default settings. To reset the router press and hold the small reset button at the back of the router using a Pen or a Paper Clip for 15-30 seconds.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Have you run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard", to configure the router, and to set an SSID, an encryption-level, and to set a password? If not, do it, and then use those settings on your iPhone & on your laptop.

I am trying to set up a wireless network. Trendnet TEW-652BRP router. Book says to go to 192.168.10.1? I get INternet Explorer cannot display them webpage. i went to run>cmd ping 192.168.10.1 Request...

open up command prompt (run--> cmd) and type in "ipconfig" (without quotes). Look for the folowing: Default Gateway: 192.168.something.something Open up internet explorer and go to that 192.168.something.something instead of going to 192.168.10.1

You should be able to finish configuration from here. Also, you have to be connected to the router, either wirelessly or with a cable in order to access the settings, double check your connection.

Good luck
