If this is an Acer, chances are you lost your CPU because of poor air circulation.or you video.

For the past 3 or 4 years Acer and other machines are poorly designin their machines, order for you to buy another one.
That is why you buy Toshiba, Sony,Hp ,Lg.Compaq, Dell

Emachines,Acer, Gateway all belong to a company that DON'T care about their customer and try to get more money from you

How do I repair the power off and on button on my laptop?

There is no quick fix. If you are competent, strip the laptop down and check the switch actuator as I have never had a power switch that didn't even work intermittantly. Look for any signs of damage.

Alienware power button

it is possible the power switch behind the button has slid out of position. The power button on the machine is usually more of a "pretty face" to press the switch behind it. I would take off the front cover of the PC (be careful not to break any tabs etc, they are usually plastic and easily breakable) and then try pressing just the little switch directly behind the power button on the front panel....if this works every time, you may need to push it forward from the rear a little bit so that the power button on the case's faceplate is making solid contact with the switch.

When switch on laptop, high sound coming

Hi

If your laptop is making a high pitch of noise (long beep) and the laptop is not having any problem booting to windows (operating system) there's a possibility that one of the button is pressed also known as sticky key

Switch off your laptop try to touch and press all the buttons and try to switch it on.
If you will encounter the same thing wait until the laptop boot to windows and open the notepad application and try to use all the buttons
If some of the buttons are not working or some buttons automatically press the problem will be on the keyboard

Is it okay if you will send more information regarding with the high sound coming from your laptop after switching it on because I would be happy to assist you and resolve your question with accurate answer . Thank you : )

Power button on my HP Pavillion dv6102od does not work. Can't force a reboot by holding it down for 5 seconds either. The power button became a bit intermittent, then failed completely. I have removed...

I don't know if this will help, but I had a very similar problem with a DV6700. Pressing on the power coverplate used to get the laptop to boot up. Upon investigation, it turned out to be the ribbon cable from the switch to the board. This is very badly routed and over time, pressure damaged the inner wires. Got a new one from ebay at the cost of £2.00 and I was back up and running in no time.

The DV series of laptops did start to fail and HP were aware of it but did nothing after the warranty was over, common failures were the wireless card port, the speakers and the gFX chip, usually caused by oerheating

I press the switch on button to activate laptop and it just switches back off

Please check whether the laptop power button may be in the pressed mode.. please release the key. If the key is not released after you pressed the power button, the laptop will power off.
Clean the power on button.
Hope this works..

Acer 5570 - Power switch is not working

Hi,
Try removing the power supply (from the wall) and the battery pack. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Plug the mains power (from the wall) back in and then press the power button. It should work. Then you can replace your battery pack. Don't know why it works but it has worked for me in the past. Good luck!

On switch will not stay down or on

My vacuum had this exact same problem, but was out of warranty because it was remanufactured. Thankfully, it's a very quick, five-minute fix.
  1. UNPLUG The Vacuum!
  2. Remove the cannister.
  3. Extend the handle and remove it.
  4. Remove the two torx (T-15) screws behind the power button, where the handle normally stows.
  5. There are four tabs holding the front plate containing the power button on; use your screwdriver to release them.
  6. Gently pull the front plate off.
  7. The switch on the right is the power button. Remove it, try clicking it a few times; if it sticks, great, it should now stick when you press the power button. Replace it and reassemble, otherwise you'll need to get a new switch.
