Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Just bought a used Toshiba Satellite P35 S6112 laptop. I installed a good hard drive, ram, and it started right up. No picture or sound. I connected a external screen and it said it was receiving nothing. Clicked fn and f6 & f7 and nothing happened. I could tell that XP Home Pro was running. Fans got loud but laptop did not shut off. When I clicked the on/off button unit immediately shut down (not slowly) as it would normally do while saving your settings. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim J.

Couldn't find any reference to this problem on the net, so it's probably just an issue with the video card, since this is a high-end gaming machine, and was probably using the video card a lot, to the max. Sounds like the laptop is booting up, but no video output. If nothing comes up with the function keys, that's probably the lack of a video signal.
I did find that there was a recall on the batteries on some of these machines, and that might be of interest to you, here's the link:
You might call around to some used computer shops, to see if they have a spare card.
Sounds like a nice machine, and worth trying to get it running, especially since you've already put a bit into it.
Good luck to you, and hope this helps.

My laptop will not boot blue screen message *** STOP:0X0000007B(0XF78D2524, 0XC0000034,0X0000000,0X00000000) Do's this blue screen message mean any thing to any one!

Dear, I am not good blue screen code reader. But I guess (from my experience) this can happen in case of defected ram, hard disk or trying to install operating system which is not supported by the motherboard or laptop.
You can try to load changing ram for testing purpose with a good RAM if does not work, try to Remove and install a good hard disk then go for the loading. I think by loading you mean start up your laptop booting form your hard drive. If so, just try to re install your operating system. Let me know updates.

How do I remove the hard drive in Toshiba SatellitePro A10 EN? (Removing the plastic cover exposes only the end of the hard drive. I'm reluctant to just start pulling on it!

  • The original Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 HDD is fitted into a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Hard Disk Drive cradle - Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 HDD caddy.

      • Gently remove the cradle from the laptop, yes pull on it
      • Unscrew the original Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Hard Disk Drive & remove it from the cradle.
      • Screw the new Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Hard Disk Drive into the cradle & refit the cradle into the laptop.
      • Re-install XP or Vista

Got white vertical lines on left side of display

Vertical lines on an LCD screen are not a good sign. This usually means that your screen is going bad.

Hi since I installed windows 7 in my toshiba satellite P35-S605 pc I haven't been able to use my tv as screen. What do I do? Thanks

You need to configure it as a second display. Connect the tv to the laptop, right-click on the desktop and choose Screen resolution, select the 2, put a resolution supported by your tv and select the Extend option.

          Toshiba p35-s609 laptop

Sounds like you have diagnosed your own problem to me. Its not the video card or you wouldn't be able to use the monitor, so it has to be a bad switch. If you can remove the bezel covering the switch you my be able to spray some contact cleaner into the switch and get it working again. Removal of most bezels starts with removing the screws on the back side of the lid hinges and lifting the bezell until it un-snaps from the housing.
Good luck. let us know how you make out.
