(Batteries may be substituted by using a deep cycle marine battery with the same specifications as described above, but the battery fluid sensor option will not function. Simply connect the battery fluid sensor to the positive terminal of the battery to disarm battery fluid sensor alarm).

Yeah, I know. I read the install instructions. My battery sensor is connected to the positive terminal, yet the "Battery alarm" keeps going off (several times per week).
When I reset the alarm, the pump runs dry for a while - which can't be good for it. I wonder if this is a design feature (called designed obsolescence) so that you have to replace the unit more frequently.

Follow what colm_malo765 wrote below. I had the same issue and put a battery charger on it and let it charge while the unit was plugged in. The alarm went off on its own. The downside is, I know I need more battery acid, but I thought of that after I had added (topped off) the battery with distilled water. If your battery backup is running more then the sump pump itself, move the sensor/float up above the water line your pump (about 6 inches to a foot - not the battery) goes off. This will save you more headaches later (like battery draining and then sump pump fails during power outage).

I am having the same problem... I assume there is a problem with the charging system? This isn't a cheap system, I would expect issues like this after less than a year..

My low water alarm kept going off. I checked the manual and found I had the probe inserted in the second cap on the negative side of the battery cell. I switched it to the positive side second cell cap from the end and the red light went out and No More Alarm.

I've had a similar problem and found that the charger is boiling the battery.

im having exact same problem, had the watchdog sump and battery one year and now battery low water level keeps beeping, and water level is definitly full ,has anyone figured a solution to this?

  • 2boxy Jan 02, 2011

I had to buy a new battery and new acid, about 141 dollars. The old battery lasted a little more than 2.5 years.

the watchdog systems always are alarming and require too much maintenance
most of the the time they have to be sent in for repair after trying new battery, etc
my advice is to cut your loses and buy a different brand system

i actually got the water alarm to stop !

My battery is one with no hole for the fluid guage - so that goes under the positive terminal.
In any case - i tried everything ... ensuring water fill, and sticking the fluid probe directly in liquid .
That led me to think ... fluid level might be nothing to do with problem. So I recharged the battery overnight with my car battery emergency charger (in remote aerated corner of garage, in case of probs - but there were no probs ). In the morning, when i reconnected to the Basement Watch dog - I noticed sparks when attaching the positive terminal - so that was encouraging.
After I connected it .... the water alarm was GONE !!. The battery alarm was sounding with an on/off frequency of about a second. But when i hit the alarm reset button, that went off - and everything looked good.
It has been a couple of days now - and eveything is working fine.

I think the problem is .... not that the fluid level is wrong, but rather that the battery is completely dead. Mind you .... before charging, as described above - I did replenish the acid (i.e. pour out some - maybe 2 or 3 cups, and replenish with some refill acid ($18) from Home Depot). This may have allowede the battery to take the charge, which solved the problem ........
though charging without replenishing the acid may have worked too - i don't know. Either way, i'm happy, that horrible alarm is silenced - and my system is working.
Hope this helps !! Good luck in your battery struggles ....

My battery low water alarm kept going off and had to reset it every 24 hr period. I checked the manual and found the low water probe is supposed to be inserted into a hole in the second cell cap from the positive side of the battery. Mine was on the negative side. I switched the cap and probe to the positive side. The red light went out and the alarm has stopped. Problem solved.

COLEMAN INVERTER PMP1200 JUST BEEPS WHEN TURNED ON

It is most likely the low voltage alarm. Suggest connecting when the car is running with no load (110 volts not connected). If the alarm continues turn the unit off and on to reset.

Hope this helps?

Inverter Protection Features
• Short Circuit Protection. The inverter will automatically shut down until short is removed.
• Low Voltage Alarm. An alarm will sound when the voltage from the battery discharges to 10.5 +/- 0.5 volts DC. This is an indication that the battery needs to be recharged.
• Over Voltage Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the input exceeds 16.5 +/- 1 volt DC.
• Under Voltage Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the input is less than 10.0 +/- 0.5 volts DC.
• Overload Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the continuous draw of the equipment being operated exceeds 1200 watts or the surge draw of the equipment exceeds 2400 watts.
• Thermal Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the circuit temperature exceeds 150° F

Tv went crack while watching. Picture and sound went out & red light flashing.Waited a min, turned off and back ok with picture and sound returning concerned if we should continue using or not?

Hello,
As long as you can see and here the picture with no problems you should be fine. The tv's put it heat which make things expand and contract. Sometimes things creek and crack. I've had two tv's that do that. Don't hesitate to keep a fire extinguisher handy though along with some alarms.(houses should have these at all times anyways)

Will the unit power up without the cb radio? I would suggest a short somewhere in the system if the protection light continues to shine bright.

Had a new Lincoln Mark 7, battery was bad from beginning and would trigger alarm when it shorted at random. In your case, outside radio waves may trigger alarm if shielding was removed from alarm antenna.
