Question about Grindmaster B-SAP Coffee Maker

2 Answers

Hi. My office has a Grindmaster/American Metal Ware "B-SAP" model coffee brewer and this morning it stopped working. The LED display is showing an error code "E2". I removed the top cover, checked the wire connections and they all appear to the naked eye to be OK. What is the common cause for an E2 code? There are several engineers in my company so if you could help steer me to what part needs replacing, I'm sure they could perform the installation. Thank you! Francis

When I look in a B-SAP manual that I found on the web, it states the an "E2" code refers to a problem with the thermistor or thermistor circuit ... the answer I received from the first expert on this site does not jive with that. So I'm asking for a second opinion please? What part usually needs to be cleaned or replaced when a B-SAP coffee brewer quits and displays the code "E2".

(in response to the previous expert advice I received, it's hard to run the brewer through a brewing cycle with descaler solution IF it's not running).

Here are some of the most common problems that can cause your coffee brewer to stop working:

  • The power cord or on/off switch can go bad. In either of these cases, it's best to get a pro to replace it or buy a new coffee maker -- replacing it improperly can lead to a fire.
  • The one-way valve can get clogged open or closed. You can usually fish out the debris that causes this problem with a toothpick.
  • The tubes can get clogged with calcium. This is especially true of the aluminum heating tube. The normal way to solve this problem is to run vinegar through the machine once, and then run two batches of water through to clean out the vinegar.
There are two problems that are nearly impossible to fix:

Failure of one of the heat-sensitive switches

(This is The coffee maker's temperature sensors)

Failure of the heating coil:

Because it's nearly impossible to get replacement parts, you probably have to buy a new coffee maker if one of these problems disables your machine. Now, when you make coffee tomorrow morning, you can do so with a new appreciation for exactly what's happening inside.

Thanks for contacting Fixya

The unit has been used every day in our office which is not a cool environment; it just stopped working this morning out of the blue. Pressing the on/off button does nothing. I tried unplugging the unit to reset it but "E2" pops right back onto the display. What is the most common causes for an E2 code?

Common reasons for e1 or e2 are generally clogs or deposits from the water build up over time .

The coffee maker needs to be descaled.

Run the coffee maker through a complete brewing cycle using
a descaling solution. you can buy them from local stores

How can the length of the garden hose effect the amount of work done ?

Digital Satellite Coffee Brew Centers Model: BC302E-IT Twin

WATER HOOK UP

The National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) requires the following for NSF approved installation:

1. A quick disconnect water connection or enough extra coiled tubing (at least 2x the depth of the unit) so that the Brewer can be moved for cleaning underneath.

2. An approved flow-back prevention device such as a double check valve to be installed between Brewer and water supply.

WATER CONNECTION

The Brewer comes equipped with a ¼ inch compression water inlet fitting located in the back. Use a ¼ inch copper tubing to connect the Brewer to a cold water supply. Water pressure should be: 20 PSI min. to 90 PSI max. An external shut-off valve and a water filtering system with a charcoal filter are highly recommended. Turn water supply on and check for leaks at the water inlet connections, tighten compression fitting if necessary.

Hook-up using a garden hose would not be recommended; if the hose is too long you may not meet the minimum required pressure and will have difficulty filling the machine.

How do I make coffee with a Grindmaster Pourover Coffee maker?

COFFEE PREPARATION PROCEDURES
1) Place filter into brew basket.
2) Put the proper amount of coffee into the filter.
3) Slide the brew basket into holder.
4) Place empty decanter on warmer located directly under the brew basket and turn corresponding warmer switch ON.
5) Pour decanter of fresh water through pour-in opening at top of brewer.
6) Hot water will be delivered through the sprayhead. This distributes the hot water evenly over the coffee bed within the brew basket. The coffee will drain from brew basket into the container below.
7) Red light indicates warmer is ON.
8) Before brewing next pot, remove brew basket from brew rails and dump filter into waste basket.
