When garage door is activated to open the lights do not work. I have checked and replaced the lights but to no avail? Is it just a problem with the switch on my wall?

How do you know it is the sensors? Has this opener ever worked properly? Do the main lights flash 10 times when the door reverses? If the opener worked before have you had it apart or done some work to it?

You have done all you can do if you are using a standard bulb. The light is controlled by a small relay on the logic board and that is probably bad.

This is a fix for Liftmaster openers. Don't know about Genie but you can try.

If the opener's light bulbs do not turn on, but all other functions of the opener seem to work properly, then there is usually a quick and easy solution:

1. Unplug the garage door opener.
   
2. Remove the light bulb, and check to be sure the bulb is not burned out.
   
3. Locate the small metal tab at the base of the socket. Clean away any corrosion you may find on the tab as much as possible. With a small instrument, generally pry up on the metal tab to ensure that it will make solid contact with the light bulb.
   
4. Reinstall the bulb, plug the opener back in, and the bulb should illuminate.
   

Unplug the opener from the power and take a small screwdriver and pry out on the center contact in the light sockets. There is always the chance the relay that controls the lights may be bad but this is the common fix.

Unplug the unit and look inside the socket. there is a copper lead you can bend up as it might not be getting a good contact. If that is not it you can start by replacing the socket itself from the manufacturer. If that does not do it then you will have to replace the logic board. Whether you reair or replace get a surge protector on this unit 900 joules or higher. Thanks BB
