This is a known problem on this model of tv, the power source is going in protected mode because it detects an excessive current on one of its exits  - usually because the filtering capacitors have aged or completely failed. The power board must be repaired - the capacitors replaced, all the diodes and transistors checked.
There are companies that will do it for you like
http://www.moduslink.com/aftermarket/repair-remanufacture.cfm
Give them a phone for a quote, it will be around $100.
If you decide to do it yourself start by replacing all electrolytic capacitors, whatever of their status.

WD-62525 went dead. Can a burned out lamp cause this?

No, a burned lamp would cause the power source of the tv to go in reduced mode and that would be clearly identifiable by the blinking lights on the status and lamp indicators.
If the tv is dead (no lights whatsoever)it means that the power source has failed completely - this is a big defect, that must be investigated by a pro: the origin of the failure must be found and the faulty part replaced replaced or any new part you just put in blindly will be instantly fried. At least the power source board will have to be replaced and that will cost you around $250.

WD-62525, continous amber lamp light. No picture. Lamp is good.

Hello:

Make sure u replace the lamp cover as the safety switch need to be closed to make the set work. If new lamp did not repair your problem , then it may well be the Ballast Board, Sometimes call the Lamp Driver.

Constant flashing green light

I had the same problem. When I checked the lamp (that was only 6 months old) it looked good. I had a tech come out and he put in a new lamp and solved the problem.
Good Luck!

Mitsubishi WD-62525 DLP has no picture

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
