i have just bought a D-Link DI 514 Wireless Router for the intension of using my pc and x box 360 together from a ntl modem will this product allow me to do this i diont want a wireless connection though?

hello!
yes, the router will work with your pc and xbox 360.
You have to set the internet connection first between you modem, router and pc before you configure the xbox 360. try this and see if it will work with your network
you may try this and see if this help solve your problem
to set up your modem and router:
Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and test the Internet connection.
to set up your xbox 360:
Step 1: Power down the Xbox and connect a regular straight thru Ethernet cable from one of the numbered ports on the router and plug the other end of the cable into the Xbox™’s Ethernet port.
Step 2: Power on the Xbox without a CD in the tray and the Xbox Dashboard should appear.
Step 3: Select Settings and press A on the controller.
Step 4: When the Xbox screen appears, select Network Settings and press A on the controller.
Step 5: When the Network Settings screen appears, select IP Addresses and press A.
Step 6: Under Configuration, select Automatic and press A on the controller. Take note that the IP Address being shown will be the Xbox’s IP Address. Press B to return to the previous screen.
Step 7: When the Network Settings screen appears, select DNS Servers and press A.
Step 8: Under Configuration, select Automatic and press A on the controller to save the changes. Press B to return to the previous screen.
Step 9: When the Network Settings screen appears, select PPPoE Settings and press A.
Step 10: Under Configuration, select Off and press A on the controller to save the changes. Press B to return to the previous screen.
Step 11: Once the Network Settings appears, select Connect and press A to test the connection.
