Re: will it work
yes, the router will work with your pc and xbox 360.
You have to set the internet connection first between you modem, router and pc before you configure the xbox 360. try this and see if it will work with your network
you may try this and see if this help solve your problem
to set up your modem and router:
Step 1: Shutdown the computer. Step 2: Unplug the router’s power cable. Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds. Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable. Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable. Step 6: Power on the computer on and test the Internet connection.
to set up your xbox 360:
Step 1: Power down the Xbox and connect a regular straight thru Ethernet cable from one of the numbered ports on the router and plug the other end of the cable into the Xbox™’s Ethernet port.
Step 2: Power on the Xbox without a CD in the tray and the Xbox Dashboard should appear.
Step 3: Select Settings and press A on the controller.
Step 4: When the Xbox screen appears, select Network Settings and press A on the controller.
Step 5: When the Network Settings screen appears, select IP Addresses and press A.
Step 6: Under Configuration, select Automatic and press A on the controller. Take note that the IP Address being shown will be the Xbox’s IP Address. Press B to return to the previous screen.
Step 7: When the Network Settings screen appears, select DNS Servers and press A.
Step 8: Under Configuration, select Automatic and press A on the controller to save the changes. Press B to return to the previous screen.

If u r inside a wireless network and internet is ok, u will able to ping both the wireless router gateway and modem gateway. If u cant ping the modem gateway, u can try connect the modem directly to your pc, and test again. U need to make sure the modem is OK, and able to connect to internet. Then only u move to check router. This is due to very often internet access having problem.
hi.. look at the back of the router you will see 5 ports..one of them is seperated and 4 of them is together, what you need to do is to connect the cable comming from the modem into the port that is seperated and the 4 ports thats there together you can connect the computers,on the modem there will be a port that is labelled as ethernet the cables going to the router should come from this port... hope this helps you..
Believe it or not, Actiontec modems from Qwest are setup as a router already (even though ports are missing from it). You should use a switch instead of another router. Otherwise you will have to configure the DI-514 to act as a switch rather than a router. This is done by assigning a new starting IP address into your DI-514. By default both routers use 192.168.0.1 as the default. You will have to plug the DI-514 seperately into a computer (to take it off the network) and assign a new starting IP address for the DI-514 such as 10.150.1.1 for example. Then you will be able to get it work. I would strongly recommend using a switch instead and turn the wireless on the modem itself (this is why the modem is the router). It will save you some headaches if the power goes out.
If you want to use your former router, you just have to connect the previous router in between your modem and computer. Try turning off all the devices (modem, router and computer) for 2 minutes. Then turn on the modem first, wait for the lights to be stable then turn on the router. When the router lights are okay that is the time that you can turn on the computer and check the internet connection.
If the Internet connection still has not come back, you will have to reconfigure it for Comcast connection. You can try using the setup CD or access the setup wizard using 192.168.0.1. User name is admin and leave the password empty then run the wizard.
You're wanting to connect the directly connect the DI-514 to the ASDL modem to give you a wireless network, right? If so here's what you do: Connect an ethernet line from the modem to the Internet/Wan port of your DI-514 and then you're set. I recommend you then follow the directions in the manual to setup wireless security.
If you're wanting to have your DI-514 wirelessly connect to the ASDL modem, then connect your PC to one of the LAN ports of the DI-514 and open the administrative web interface (usually located at http://192.168.0.1) and go to the wireless section and select "Wireless Client" and input the MAC of the ASDL modem's wireless interface (you can find this on the administration web interface of the ASDL modem) and you should be good to go.
You can't get an IP address on the Xbox that way. You need to get an IP address from a device that works as a DHCP server such as a residential router. Connecting the Xbox to the PC will do nothing for you.
