How do you remove the flywheel to get at the coil on a ts350 stihl saw

The official way to remove it is an M10x1 'Knock-off-tool' right hand threads. A 2 or 3 jawed puller will not remove the flywheel, and guaranteed damage will occur. Flywheels and crankshafts have a tapered design, so when installed with a nut, the taper tightens as the nut is tightened.
OK, you probably do not have one of those on your work bench, so lets make one or something like it.
1) remove spark plug,
2) insert a 12" piece of recoil rope (use about 6 or 8 inches) into the plug hole.
3) rotate the flywheel counter clockwise until the rope has bunched itself into the top of the cylinder, stopping the piston before 'top-dead-center'
*note: this would act as a replacement for a 'piston stop'. The rope is soft, so no damage to piston or cylinder will occur. If the rope gets caught on a cylinder port, you can back up the rotation, pull the rope out, and retry inserting the rope.
4) After removing the original flywheel nut (right hand threads, so righty-tighty, lefty-loosy)
purchase two M10 nuts, thread them onto the crankshaft (but not against the flywheel) so that the end of the crankshaft is not above the last nut.
5) turn the saw over to position the flywheel up, with a medium weight ball-pean hammer, strike the top nut with a good sharp wrap.
**note: Do NOT hit at an angle, use a square, straight down strike. Do NOT strike the end of the crankshaft. 2 strikes should do it, grasp the flywheel to check to see if it has loosened.
6) When reinstalling the flywheel and nut, tighten with the same force as when removing. 20 is the official torgue.

The recoil starter assembly has shattered on my gardentec chainsaw. can I purchase a new assembly?

I'm not familiar with the model 'Gardentec' is it a Ryobi product?
In many cases now and especially on cheaper hobby saws the starter pawls are not available as individual items. However I'll explain the process of replacement.
Firstly, remove the starter housing and the plastic shield fitted to most saws between the starter pulley and flywheel. You will now have to remove the flywheel. The centre nut is a normal R/H thread but you will have to lock the piston first.
Remove the sparkplug and if a piston lock tool is not available then a length of starter rope will suffice, Turn the engine over by hand until the piston is opposite top dead centre (furtherest from sight) then push as much of the starter rope into the hole as you can. This will stop the crankshaft from turning when you undo the flywheel nut. Once the nut is undone your next step will be to remove the flywheel and they seldom slip off easily. In many cases a puller will be required but use caution or the flywheel will shatter. Do not hit the flywheel with a hammer or damage will occur. Light pressure can be applied at opposite sides of the flywheel by inserting two screwdrivers and lightly levering. Do not use too great a force.
If these process fail to produce results then you should seek the help of a chainsaw service shop.
Now once the flywheel has been removed you can turn it over and insert a pin punch to drift out the pawl pivot pins.
Reassembly is a lot easier.

How do i replace a starter rope on a briggsand stratton lawn mower

Remove the 3 nuts holding the recoil assembly to the flywheel. Observe how the old rope is attached and wound. Rope is sold by the foot at mower repair shops. 3-4 ft should do. The rope is held in the recoil assembly by a knot and held in the handle by a knot.

ECHO PB251 BLOWER. Noticed fuel running out of muffler. Cleaned spark screen, installed new airfilter, fuel vent, fuel filter. Ran unit - engine quit while at full rpms - will not start. Clicking noise...

Your flywheel has come loose on enj., this throws the timing off so it is firing at all different times except for when it's supposed to. therefore raw fuel is running right through the cylinder and out exhaust, If you are lucky you won't have to replace the 60.00 flywheel! remove fan side of case, and remove blower wheel, then flywheel nut then flywheel, it has a built in key in it, usually this is wasted from coming loose, make sure you use loctite and an impact to tighten flywheel nut back after you repair/replace flywheel.

I was mowing my yard, and the grass was pretty tall. (4-5 inches, maybe 6 in some spots). I hit a tall spot and the mower started to struggle (usually recovers), but this time it didn't make it through. ...

It sounds like the flywheel key is bent and /or broken. You have to remove the flywheel to check. Remove the part containing the starter rope. Under, you will see the top of the flywheel. Remove the nut holding the cup to the flywheel. If you have a wooden mallot, lift up on one side of the flywheel and rap the shaft with the mallot. If you dont have a mallot, find a nut with the same thread as the shaft. Wind the nut on so the nutis just above the shaft. Now, holding the side of the flywheel, rap the nut with a hammer. You may have to do it several times. When the flywheel comes off, check the flywheel key. It should be in a slot on the shaft. Get a new one and replace it in the reverse order that you took it apart. Please be careful and REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG WIRE BEFORE WORKING ON THE FLYWHEEL!! Good luck...Lee

Pullstart jamed removed putstart rope no problem

If after removing the starter the starter pulls easily but you can not turn the flywheel the engine is probably seized. Could be a piston failure or a bearing failure. check to be sure nothing is caught under the flywheel binding it up.

I think the key is sheared but how does it get changed,I have done it before but it was on a briggs & stratton engine, this has a tecumshia engine.

Remove the starter rope assembly, remove the outer casing. When the flywheel is clear, you can do one of two things to loosen it...Remove the flywheel nut and the cup, take a nut of the same size and place on the threads. Turn down only a few turns, lift the flywheel with one hand and tap the nut with a hammer in the other. Once it is loose you will see the flywheel key. Good luck...Lee
