Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I possess a Fuji Bridge FinePix S1600 camera. I have used a FujiFilm 4GB SDHC card. I have taken 597 photos and I cannot download any of these onto my computer. I use Linux on my Computer using UBUNTU 10.2. Why can't I download these valuable photos which includes my niece's wedding. I am in dispair and would like to know how I can solve this problem. Pleas can you kindly help with any suggestions. I am not very computer literate!! Ian

Hi,

The FinePixViewer software supplied with your camera is compatible only with Windows XP, Vista and Macintosh operating systems.

Since the software is not compatible with Linux OS, it is not possible to download the pictures using the Finepix viwer software.

As a workaround to this problem, you can download the pictures on any other computer which has Windows operating system and copy the pictures on a disk. Then, you can transfer the pictures from the disk to your computer.

Hope this solves your problem. For more help and clarifications, please feel free to reply to this post.

Thanks for using FixYa.

You can use a card reader. Take off the SD/MicroSD card near the batteries. and connect it to a card reader. It works perfectly.

On linux I have used 'gthumb' to access the photos, as the s1600 did not behave like a normal usb stick; connect the cable supplied with the camera and select 'import' from the menu.
Ofcourse, if I take photos onto the SD card, I use the card reader.

New memory card put it in and it said card error formatted it and it still says card error

I see that the Fujifilm Finepix Z2 model is 6 years old. Do the cards that you are using say SDHC? If so your camera is probably not compatible with them. Try using a regular SD card (no HC) and that might solve your issue. Fujifilm might also have a firmware update that can make your camera work with SDHC cards. Hope this helps!

I have a Fujifilm Finepix A600 and when I turn it on I get CARD ERROR Can you tell me how to fix it

You may have improver card fitted. Please remove and re fit the card. If problem persist , please try another good / new card. If you have no problem with new card, your existing/previous card is broken.

How can I download pictures from my fujifilm s1600camera onto my PC Windows7

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any photo cataloging program.

On my fujifilm camera, when i try and take a photo it sais 'read error' can someone please tell me how to fix this? (i have a memory card 4gb.)

A 4GB card will be an SDHC (high capacity) card, not a an SD card. They fit the same slots, but they aren't the quite the same, and some cameras won't work with SDHC.

Im using 8gb SDHC card (scandisc) camera keeps reporting read error or write error. won't download photos, locks up etc, etc. lost many holiday photos. It is only 6 weeks old.... should Ijust use 2 mb SD -...

If all other cards work fine then you may have a faulty memory card.

Your camera should theoretically be able to handle an 8GB SDHC card (but only up to 2GB xD card) as it is an SDHC compatible camera, but I've encountered more than a few cameras in the past which were SDHC compliant but could only handle up to 4GB.

Most of these had firmware updates to enable up to 16GB SDHC but the Fuji S1000fd has no firmware update.

If you find that the SDHC card is fine after all then I'd suggest contacting Fuji for a definite say so as to whether they know of any issues with 8GB SDHC compatibility.

Camera freezes after taking picture

I had this problem with my s1000 Fujifilm, but solved it by changing the standard SD card for a SDHC class 4 card. It no longer freezes when a flash is used! I've tried a 4Gb and a 16 GB SDHC class 4 card and both are fine.
