Question about i-mate SPL Smartphone
It seems this question has been around for several hours. Honestly I am not good with Htc or windows mobile, but I have a little idea, let me share them to you..
Please download this Windows ActiveSync for Windows CE and install it. If the installation is successful, the sync process will definitely work.
If this is not successful, let me know.
Thanks for using FixYa.

You will need to go to i-mate website, find and download the latest drivers for your pc. Once they are downloaded, double-click on the file so it installs itself into your pc. Then reboot. It should now recongize and sync with the device. They also have free software downloads to use your i-mate on your pc.

Synchronization or going to the Net is two folds.
First , Your Unit is a SmartPhone, meaning it
depends on your SIM card and the ISP that
Adding to the SIM Card , you need to activate
the GPRS settings on your phone.
• The GPRS settings comes from your SIM card
Provider, you may have to ask them , If there
are settings available for your Model.
• You may need to do it manually , adjusting
settings on your phone to properly address
or configure the settings, if the Automatic
settings which comes from your Provider
wont do. ( like APN and so forth )
• second , Once that is set , you need to load
your SIM Card to access and surf in the Internet.
And you can set also the MMS .
Cellular:Networks: GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900 Cellular;Data_Links: CSD, GPRS
Wireless;LAN: Not supported
• So If you are in the area where 4G is available
you may not like the speed of browsing comparing
it to other 4G enabled phone.
• GPRS are sometimes called EDGE or 2G networks

I can help you with your Netbook problem.
Some netbooks run windows xp or higher. Yours is running windows CE, which is a very limited version of windows. It is not designed to run many applications, only what it is shipped with.
I am afraid synchronization with your SPL smartphone is not possible with this netbook / windows CE device.
I hope that helps.

Just so that I understand, you are wanting to surf the internet through your smartphone, correct? Please clarify if I have misunderstood.
You will need to obtain either modem driver for your phone that is written for windows mobile 6, or the modem specifications (AT Commands) for the modem feature on your phone. If your netbook has a bluetooth radio in it, you can bridge your net book to the phone, and use the phone as a bluetooth modem that way. Windows Mobile is more difficult to setup, as your ability to run off the shelf software is limited, as is hardware support.

Ok the issue is with conflicting windows CE versions is why you cannot sync, and right now the windows CE on the phone is 5.0 you windows ce on the net book is 6.0 with different sync strings is the reason for failure.
Sync to a pc then copy contacts over using the export function i'e outlook or otherwise to be copied over to the net book for the workaround.
Sorry this has happen this is not any fault of my own but microsoft's i'll attempt to put there nose into the smart phone market.
Thanks and please do click the accept button for my efforts.

You have to download Click here to download ActiveSync 4.5 to connect with CE6.
Please install ActiveSync 4.5 and try to connect it.
Please set the firewall down and connect it.This will work.
If still the problem persist it is because of the settings of you net book,Please check the USB port too.ActiveSync 4.2 does not support CE 6.Please check the phone settings too for synchronization.
Try to connect with other PC and check USB port is working.
post a comment for further assistance.
thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

As I see it both you imate and your net book runs windows ce, the imate would synchronise on the desktop if you installed drivers and software for the desktop, you received an error at your netbook because you cant run xp/vista or any other platform applications on the CE environment, I dont see any way to synchronise your i mate to the netbook running ce. both are mobile OSes, you can run synchronization only to OSes that can install activesync.
activesync only installs on windows platforms such as XP or earlier, vista Windows seven.

I understand that you are facing some problem with synchronizing your mobile with your Netbook.
I will try to provide you with as much information as I can.
Please understand that the netbook is running with Win CE operating system which is a mobile operating system and its not a full fledged operating system in which all the software cannot be installed. You can install only the software which is specific to windows ce operating system. you will get the error msg like "This is not a win CE installation file" is you try to install normal software into your netbook.
For installing any softwares to your netbook, connect your netbook to a normal computer(desktop pc) , install Activesync to your desktop, download a windows ce software which you want to install to your netbook ( if that s/w available for windows CE) and install it to your netbook from your desktop using activesync ( just double click the downloaded win ce installer file after connecting the netbook to yout desktop and after installing activesyc, this will automatically install the win ce downloaded s/w to your netbook )
Regarding syncing your mobile with your netbook may not be possible as syncing a mobile with another mobile ( netbook , as its running win ce, its equivalent to mobile) is not feasible.
I hope this is useful for you to understand about your problem and its soultion.
Please rate the solution provided.
