Try the ensharpendecoder-win.exe by techsmith from camtasia studio 7. I have been having problems for 2 years with Studio 11 plus and my GR-HD1. And yesterday i downloaded this small prog 353 kb and now i can use the camera in Mpg2 mode. Hope this helps anyone with the same problem Regards Barry
You first need an editing program like windows media, then open that program on your pc and look for the import or ingest or capture video menu. A window should pop up and should ask you to identify the device you want to connect to (your camera usb should be hooked up to the computer with the computer on but the camera off, then turn on the camera before you do the connect to device above) then follow the instructions to either hit play on your camera while clicking capture live on the editing program, or ask the help menu how to capture footage for the specific editing program you have.
MOTION DV STUDIO should work. I can't find the "free" smaller version and have lost the disc that came with cam that had it. Panasonic does not support this cams donwloads on their site. I can only find the for sale versions of MOTION DV STUDIO.
I am having the same d*mn problem. I have a PC with Xp with a number of built in editing programs that should be able to capture from firewire and recognize this connection. This cams USB connection captures bad video artifacts during transfer. The only other solution which I can think of is to use a SVHS serial to mini cord (?). I can't find one of these for sale anywhere...if they exist.
Any other people having this problem and have solved it without buying a full version of MOTION DV STUDIO? If anyone can upload the free version of basic MOTION DV STUDIO for us to download, that would be awesome.
Btw- my laptop will not recognize the firewire connection from the DV camcorder no matter what I try within the hardware connection UI, etc.
