I'm assuming that you have tried to reset the player (hold down the center and menu button until the apple logo shows up) and it didn't worked. In that case you must reset it the hard way: either take off the back cover and remove the battery or(if you're afraid of forcing the cover) leave the player on till the battery runs out then every 2 hours try to start it. When the player stops showing even the slightest sigh of life leave it like that for a day - now you are sure the battery is as good as disconnected. Recharge it, connect it back to the pc, resync it and make sure to eject it before disconnecting it from now on.

In that case just resync it and from now on ALWAYS click the Unmount button before disconnecting.

    Hello,

What you need to do is remove the battery of your ipod, if you can remove the battery and wait for some time before putting it back, it will reset the ipod, and your ipod will function well.

    Or

    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

    2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously
until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to
      repeat this step.

If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power
adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect
iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't
    set to go to sleep.

If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from
one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the
other hand to press the Menu button.

When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some
customized settings may be lost. Date and time are preserved (unless the
iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to
    power).

    Take care.

Open back cover of ipod then remove battery and memory card from it. Then connect battery and start ipod without memory card. Then go to settings menu of ipod then reset all settings. Then check. If you connect your ipod to computer with usb cable then you can see usb connected icon in right side click on it then click on stop when you want to disconnect . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Hello, if it's still frozen try holding the power button and the center of the scroll wheel, or the power button and the top of the scroll wheel until it restarts, then try re-connecting it again.

Failed to eject before rebooting computer, now USB port says it doesnt recognize the ipod and my ipod is frozen on "Connected-eject before disconnecting"

Actually this issue shouldn't really be that difficult to resolve. :) A simple reset should take care of it being frozen on the connected screen. Below I have posted a step by step on resetting an iPod.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

As soon as you see the apple icon appear disconnect the iPod from your computer. After the iPod completely loads. reconnect it to make sure it is connecting and loading correctly. If this does not resolve your issue for any reason please do let me know. I have a few other options we could attempt. :) and the feed back is always good. It lets me know if I am actually helping people with they're issue's or not.

Ipod froze

hi booheman, try these two options
1. connect the ipod to a computer with itunes, click the eject button.
2. hold center and menu for 40 seconds, the ipod will reset.
This is caused by loading alot of songs on the iPod and pulling the cord out without properly ejecting it.

Do Not disconnect message

if you don't eject the iPod, that is what will happen.

to eject it alternatively, what you should do is go into control panel\system and find the device manager.

You should find it under removable drives. click it and and select disable.

Then it should be ejected.

hope this helps.
