Question about Verbatim VER95327 USB Hard Drive

I have a verbatim hard drive 300 gb i used for about 6 month already, i have i lot data, now i plugged in the computer today i have this messega\r\nthe disk in drive E IS not formatted. do you want to format it now? i dont want to lose all my files what i can do>?

Try the Verbatim in some other computer, to see if it can be read at all.

Or, search online for "USB file scavenger" software -- it reads through the device, block-by-block, and may possibly be able
to "stitch" blocks together, to recreate your files.

The device probably has a one-year warranty.
Eventually, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

Verbatim store n go usb flash drive 8 gb device not recognized


My Verbatim Sto N Go 8GB USB Flash Drive does not work in any port, in any computer. When I plug it in, the "Device is not recognized" error comes up. When I click on it, and the Unknown Device Properties comes up, the device status reads: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

This is the 2nd drive of this same brand that quit working within 6 months. I have MONTHS of work on files in this drive, and would hate to have to redo all that work! I was real careful after the first one went bad to use the eject button when removing it from my computer. But I am thinking the last time I clicked the eject button, it froze, so I just pulled it out without the message coming up. Hopefully there is someway to get the computer to recognize this drive again???

From the information provided, it appears to be a direct hardware failure. Verbatim appears to not offer much on providing information on such issues, so it would be safe to say is have it replaced.. I am not 100% sure but some external drives come with a 7 year warranty, you could also try to have your data recovered from a local computer service in your area so you do not lose the data. But, in all it would be advised to replace it.

1. First power down the computer and the external hard drive.
2. Disconnect the drive.
3. Wait a minute.
4. Start your computer.
5. Connect the Verbatim drive again.
6. Wait a minute. (While waiting, check the screen for popup messages telling you the harddrive is ready and received a drive letter.)
7. Check "My Computer" for the harddrive.
8a. If you see it there, click it and make a copy of the data you have stored on the drive immediately!
8b. If the drive does not show up, you probably have a problem that will take deeper looking-into.

A clicking sound from a harddrive is never a good sign. While it does not mean immanent ***** of the drive, getting the data from it is now a matter of luck. In any case you should not trust the drive and should replace it as soon as possible.

An external hard drive is a normal hard drive with a converter to change it to USB.
If you have important information on it, you could open it up, and connect internally to your computer, however, opening it will (almost always) void the warranty.

I'd recommend contacting whoever sold it to you, and asking them: 1) If you can open it up, to connect it internally, to get your data off, and 2) For a replacement.

Hi.. i hav a problem with Verbatim 8 GB usb drive,


they have lifetime warranty but not for the data. this is a damaged boot sector programming on the flash drive. It can only be recovered via a Level 3 data recovery company like ADR or Kroll. I used ADR.

Ouch!
If the installation disk that came with the drive has any sort of troubleshooting or recovery tool, try that first. If not, try the trial version of System Mechanic from Iolo. It's a really good piece of software that could help recover the data if possible.

As a last resort, the Verbatim website suggests Norton Disk Doctor or Data Rescue X. They may have free trials. You'll have to check their website.

Beyond this, you're probably looking at a professional data recovery company. That can be expensive!

A Hard disk making noise, does not sound too good. if it was waorking before on both PC's & not having issues then it has to be with the unit. try on a nother computer. if its the same thing i suggest you look for that warranty card of yours.

Verbatim 250 GB drive suddenly not recongnized


Sounds like either the HDD or the USB controller card is almost dead.

Sorry for the news, if it is the USB controller you should be able to have the drive transferred into a new enclosure and continue using it. However if it's the circuitry on the Hard drive itself you may be in need of more serious assistance.

You can take the drive to most computer stores and have someone tranfer it into a new enclosure if you need the data and don't mind the risk of voiding your warranty. If that doesn't work, let me know and I can point you in the direction of a service company that can attempt to extract you files from the damaged drive.

try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it (use quick format) and then use this data recovery program to recover your files.
